nb88
Hey all.......ive got 384mb of sdram in my pc at the moment, its a dell about 3 years old. I want to replace one of the 128mb cards for a new 512mb one...but ive heard it can cause problems if all of the ram sticks arent the same manufacturer? I've found a good samsung card on ebay for £30 but mine are made by infineon or something. What do you guys think? I'm also after a good, quiet large storage hdd - preferably under £50 - can anyone recommend one? I've found loads on ebuyer but im not too sure which to choose  Thanks. Noz. biketrialler
If your computer is crap enough to be using SDRAM then you would be better off at looking for a cheap motherboard, processor, ram upgrade really. Upgrading your SDRAM isnt going to bring many huge benefits for a low grade system for the money put in - what spec is your computer? nb88
pentium 4 1.6ghz, nvidea geforce 2 gfx card, 80gb hdd... it runs fine and i dont want to spend much money on it, especially as i dont use it for that much, other than surfing the net. But some games i want have recommended specs as around 1ghz, and 512mb ram. So i want to upgrade the ram  also thinking about putting 2 hard drives in raid with windows on a seperate partition - anyone else done this? manxrider
I'm also thinking of upgrading my Ram but I don't know what the current speed of mine is , as in the 3-3-2-1 kind of stuff, can anyone help?
JTM
To save starting a new topic, I would also like to upgrade the 256DDR ram in my laptop that I just bought. I think another 512mb worth should do it. Can anyone reccomend any? And where to get it? Also is it easy to put into a lappy?

What do you guys think? ← Yo do know that SD-RAM looks a bit like this whereas SD cards look like this: Sorry if that's a really stupid thing to say, but RAM doesn't come in cards :'( To save starting a new topic, I would also like to upgrade the 256DDR ram in my laptop that I just bought. There should be a plate on the bottom of the laptop which you can unscrew. And then just stick the (special laptop) ram in there

Danny
Use the crucial memory advisor to find out exactly what ram you need i also recommend buying it off there as its guaranteed to work. Some brand name pcs such as dell require special stuff.
