I didnt see a price on that page, but check out www.rgbdirect.co.uk for some bargains on cameras, amazing online shop.

I bought a sony hc18 from there about a year ago, came very quickly. Great camera. cheap from there too at £330 at the time. I think its replacement is the hc19 or hc20, I would recommend either of them!

i cant give a link for some reason.

I have one very similar to that one and you will not be dissapointed.

Although you will need to buy one of the connecting cables to use it with your computer.

They cost around 10-20 so not that much.

The camera is very good though and the zoom is brilliant.

This is the one you want, it's pretty cheap, good quality, touch screen, small, easy to use, I'm sure you could find loads of other reviews of it on the net. It's what I've just got in the post today. :( I bought it from Amazon, using the link there ^^

Definately stick with sony, as the Honda advert says "Isn't it nice when things just, work?", which is what Sony camcorders do.

It sounds like you'll need to buy and install a firewire card, which will allow you to capture the footage onto pc (the sony will do USB aswell, but it's crap), pick one up from ebay or ebuyer for not very expensive. The cable will usually come with it, and they're all the same.

Think thats everything. :) Buy the sony. :)

Mike.

look at the Sony DCR-HC22E, its £320 at my work (jessops guernsey) but that excludes VAT, so it must be something like £350. Its the next model up from the hc19, that fatmike is talking about. The main difference is the DV in AND out connections, not just the out found on the hc19.

this means, providing you have a firewire port, you can upload any larger movies or stuff you dont want on your computer back onto the camera / tape. Saving you vast amounts of hardrive space.

Generally i prefer the sony's compared with any other make on the market at the mo. They feel a much more a 'quality' camera, whereas JVC, sharp, etc, feel cheap and tacky. I also like the touch screen idea, all your detailed options are on the screen, and although this means you leave fingerprints on the screen, it keeps the camera much tidier and neater and better to look at. And finally, something else that is better than than other manufactures is the second set of buttons next to the screen, for a slower zoom and ANOTHER start/stop recording button.

i too have been looking towards a camcorder from MTB stuff, and i really like the sonys, and in my experience from working in jessops, i would personally choose the DCRHC22, its got everything you would need for simple and advanced video editing / filming. Dead cheapo too!

if you can be arsed to read the essay, i hope it helps!! if you need any detail in specific, i would be glad to put my working knowledge to the test!

why are they worse than a normal dv camera? :)

id imagine hes refering to cheap dvd cameras....

when a product has 'not ususally in this price range' features, it generally means the rest of its features, are generally sub standard, to save money to be able to include said impressive feature.....

I think only two of those cameras are Mini DV, which is what you undoubtabley want. Hi8, and digital8 are crap, enough said. :-

For the price you're looking at, I'd definately get the sony I linked you to earlier. It's definately worth the extra few quid.

Remember you'll need some Mini DV tapes, and probably a carrying bag of some sort. (I just used jiffy bags for my old samsung. :">

So, yeah. That sony.
