shaggy
Hello I am looking for a decent digital camera. I am willing to spend up to £250 and I have had my eye on a Fuji Finepix S5500 for a while now. But before i go and buy it i am wondering if there are any other cameras out there that are worth a look.I have looked round the internet at loads of reviews but if i am honest i dont understand all the technical stuff they go on about. I want the camera for pictures not really bothered about video. All so i will be using it quite a bit for fast moving subjects so i dont want the camera to blur too much i can handle a litle but as little as possible really. I would like it to take pretty good pictures as well, well as good as they can be for my budget anyway. So if anyone has any advise on cameras other than the fuji finepix s5500 would be much appreciated. Cheers James

Rob_P
Get the finepix S5500!!!! I use it and it's fantastic! Got so many functions and has fully manual mode so you can set focus, shutter speed and apature to your own preference! Have a look at my gallery and all those picas have been taken with the S5500! If you want to know more or need any more examples of pictures then add me to MSN and i'll be more than happy to help! The camera is great for fast moving subjects!!! Example!:: A pic I took at silverstone world superbike racing about 1 month ago!! Not as clear as day but still excellent seems as this bike was doing about 180mph! I use the camera for manily trials which can be pretty fast moving depenind what there doing, angles blahblah!! :(
Heatsink
Some cracking cameras mentioned above ^ If you're looking for a simple to use camera, which is also more compact than a S5000, i.e. you could fit in the pocket of a coat or some trousers, then I have a recommendation. It's got a sports mode and manual settings for fast moving photography, but crucially, the User interface isn't over burdened with lots of features you won't use. I'm also not a fan of camera with dials on that have about 10 settings, only 3 of which you actually use. The following camera ticked all the boxes for all I really need, and once I'd seen it the quality of finish is much nicer than the competitors cameras for a similar spec. They have it on sale in Boots down my way, and being able to play with the camera really helped me to quickly pick out the camera amoungst it's rivals at which point I bought it online! Expect to pay around £120, Fuji A345 4.1 MPixels http://www.fotosense.co.uk/shop_details.asp?productid=1038

skandy32
check out the olympus C-60Z about £200 squids, which is silyl considering the spec i shall now roughloy list.... - Fully manual controls, including shutter, and aperture control. - Also Scenic Auto modes, should you not have yet learned what the above means. - A woooooping 6megapixels, so a pic can be enlarged up to say A3 no problem, possibly bigger! - 3X optical zoom ( fuji has 10X) - Pretty robust, solid + weatherproof! - Top quality olympus lense! pretty dam small compact snappy camera, but at the same time, the features of a pro D-SLR, at a silly price. - 2YR WARRANTY WITH ALL OLYMPUS CAMERAS too, at the mo. ( Jessops, also offer extra camera protection plans, about £30 extra, for 2yrs of deliberate damage cover! covering everything but loss or theft! ) here she is.... (i call it a she, but it could be a he, who knows!?) If you wanted anymore help, feel free to add me to msn / pm me. (I work at jessops, so i have lots of knowledge to share....) Josephine
Konica Minolta Dimage z3 I'm looking at this myself, Steve-A's Dad has one and I went and had a brief play with it, to say the least I'm in love, definitely getting one at some point. From what I gather there's very little to choose between this and the Fujifilm finepix s5500, except the general funkiness of design, the whole thing feels amazingly put together, and the sports mode is my personal favourite, big aperture, low exposure, nice bright images and no blur  :'( :o :P Joe (On a quick note, I'd go for a for camera-shaped one as the smaller ones tend to have smaller lenses leading to darker pics) EDIT: That link actually shows you the next model up; the Z3, but for roughly the same price I'm not complaining!
