Mr Dave
Hello, Just been for a ride today, and had absalutly no energy, it really sucks, i had dinner which was egg and chips, went out, had acouple of drinks and a apple bar thingy. went home after about 4 hours. Is that really bad?? What sorta things do you eat before and during riding? Tar Dave :turned:
aust
pasta. anything high in carbs etc... takes a while for the carbs to reach you system so make sure you eat it the day/night before.. psp22 high energy is stupidly high in carbohydrate and is good to mix with water.. keeps you hydrated and good energy while riding and make sure to get some glucose to go with it such as a mars bar or something should be ok.. rich4130
Sleep really affects me, if I don't get enough (8hours at least) I can't carry on doing things, I just stop literally. Time of the day also effects me, sometimes I feel well tired when riding about early/mid afternoon, then I'm full of enegy in the evening, its weird.. Burton
i've rode consistanley for 7 days now (Y) And each day ive had lots of energy ;) dam school taking my energy :turned: You need to have lots of sleep, have a big beakfast with lots of carbohydrates, and have a diet which consists of lots of proteins and carboload(having lots of high carbohydrate foods). dont have lots of sweets and E numbers because it'll give you only a little energy boost rather than a continuous one. Eat intervally, rather than eating only when your hungry. Give the body energy every hour or so(sandwich, jaffa cake, salad...nothing crap). Tartridge
ps tarty would like to see what you have to say when you can be bothered  ← Just trying to find an essay I did, it'll cover some of it, but it's not trials-specific... trialsguru
it doesnt take ages for carbs to digest at all, it depends what carbs youve eaten to determine how long itll take to digest, theres simple and complex carbs and even then things like pasta will only take about 3hrs to digest

Hiltop
i never feel like i dont have enough energy. i get the feeling of tiredness but thats differnent. when lying in bed tired, as in wanting sleep, i still feel i could do alot of energy requiring exercise. my diet isnt too bad though and i eat loads. always start the day with 6 weetabix and 4 slices of toast  works a treat, especially on a hung over sat or sunday morning with loads of bacon. lucky thing is no matter how much i seem to eat i never gain weight. how people go without eating is beyond me. Trebor
Keeping hydrated is pretty damn important I imagine, don't just drink when you're thirsty. 'Nana's are pretty awesome as well

Tartridge
Keeping hydrated is pretty damn important I imagine, don't just drink when you're thirsty. ← Correct. You don't feel thirsty until you're 2% dehydrated, and at 2% dehydration, your exercise capability has dropped by 10%. Drink stuff thats tasty too, not plain water. Plain water makes you piss more, thus dehydrating you further, and doesn't make you wanna drink it. Aim for approx 100ml/10 mins. However its person-specific. You also wanna try and get about 40-60g* of simple carbohydrates (ie. sugar) into you per hour, plus minerals (Na+, electrolytes). Jaffa cakes are actually pretty good, and easy to eat/store. *Thats for professional football - probably lower for trials. That's during exercise anyway... Prior to riding, you wanna keep your glycogen store high - google that
JT!
You feel good sometimes, you feel crap sometimes. You can't drink enough water, if you do you just piss it out anyway. Good with the bad, just have to deal with it.

Hiltop
You feel good sometimes, you feel crap sometimes. You can't drink enough water, if you do you just piss it out anyway. :- ← nope, drinking excessive amounts causes the cells in your body to swell. Swelling puts pressure on the brain and nerves, which can cause behaviors resembling alcohol intoxication. Swelling of brain tissues can cause seizures, coma and ultimately death unless water intake is restricted. as we nearly found out after a water drinking competion :"> :-

I like to think I have a healthy diet, home grown veg, not too much jusk food (crisps, chocolate etc) I dont know what causes it, it drives me up the wall
