Dai the Socket
Apparently: * There has been loads of 'f**ked up V!Z rims (old style) * The new Onza hog rim and the old V!Z rims are identical. Therefore: * Apparently the hog rim is 'shit' and a 'better' alternative would of been the identical Koxx rim, yet they're more expensive and without eyelets. Does it seem like someone's chatting shit here? Story is I've bought a Hog rim today, and my mate says it's shite, just like the Viz rim. We've had a slight argument and I'm going to base the truth on comments on here. Can all people knowledgeable in this topic please comment here. Nick. Caleb
I thought the hogs WERE always shit and the ronnies the best?
Dai the Socket
I thought the hogs WERE always shit and the ronnies the best? ← I hadn't heard that before. I've got a Ronnie and it's got 6 dents in and is uber thing. The Koxx and Hog rims are identical, therefore unless the Ronnie is better than the Koxx, your initical perceptions of the rims must of been wrong (Y)
Caleb
I know what you mean about them denting etc. I think more people are worried about grinds etc now and how long they will last. What was your old koxx rim like? You tried running different tyre pressure etc? my brother has absoulutely killed the old ronnie with no holes ! and the same to an x- lte rim. But my megamo rim is sounds as a pound cept for the missing spokes " . Also just recently got a pair of koxx djinn /tryall rims and they actually seem decent due to the smaller holes. Dont know about life of grind as of yet though but might find out later :- Theres always arrow racing or mavic bmx? maybe even a drilled bmx rim. Tartridge
All this over a rim (Y) The Hog is a Try-All, but with eyelets. The old Viz... I dunno what that was, probably the same thing. The new Viz does appear to be different though, with that brake track, and 1mm less wide.
Mike Poyzer @ Onza
The Hog, Koxx and Viz rims are the same rim from the same manufacturer. The wear line is a new innovation introduced recently which has caused huge problems for trials. Fitted to the new Kris Holm Trials Unicycle it has been withdrawn by Kris because the rim folds at that point if dropped on heavily. He showed me several incidences of this problem. Mark W
Seeing as this is a topic about rims, does anyone know if any manufacturer still sells Alex DX-32 rims? Either branded with their name or just on their own?

I don't really get that bit (Y) I haven't been able to pick up any specific makes associated with "Kris Holm" so what rim has he had problems with. Does this mean that the 'old style' Viz rim had problems, due to it being nothing like the Koxx or Onza Hog rim? Please relate specifically to the question  Thanks a lot
tipsy Jock
The new viz rim is just a revamped old i think, try-all and onza rims being the same except for the onza one having eyelets. pete
Tartridge
The 'wear line' being introduced by which manufacturer or whatever. I don't really get that bit (Y) ← The groove in the sidewall. I haven't been able to pick up any specific makes associated with "Kris Holm" so what rim has he had problems with. The wide rim with a wear line in it. Does this mean that the 'old style' Viz rim had problems, due to it being nothing like the Koxx or Onza Hog rim? The old Viz rim was the same as those 2 rims you just mentioned. Luke Drewery
The old viz, hog and koxx drilled rims arent shit at all, they are more for smoother riders though. If youre going to go for any, go for the viz if you like colour choice or the hog if youre not bothered. I run a koxx rim, but as people have said they dont come with eyelets so thats a downer. Also, if i remeber rightly they are more expensive than the other two rims. At the time when i bought the koxx rim the viz and hog rims werent out though, so i couldnt get them. You shouldnt have a problem with the hog rim unless you are a heavy rider... (Y)
