What Disc Brake?

ok cool cheers for that, why would you suggest discs over vee's? is there that much of a difference? ali, you said youve knocked the dial off the avid before? was that fixable or did you have to buy a new brake?

cheers!

pete

Every vee I have used hasnt had anywhere near the power of a disk, especially when wet. Then you have the issues of buckled wheels rubbing which isnt a probalem with disks.

I knocked off the dial, unfortunatly I couldnt find it otherwise it just pops back on, it still works perfectly well with out the dials, there is a little knob that sticks out that you can adjust the pads with.

I'm running a 203mm Avid with XTR lever and Nokon housing.

The brake is very powerful, but still provides enough modulation. Top brake (Y)

I never experienced any fading, not even after going down long hills.

I tried several Mono Trial's and they felt very nice.

However I prefer the Avid because it's cheaper and so simple to adjust and maintain.

No brake fluid means less potential problems. I'm not saying a Hope will leak, but I'm sure my Avid will never leak or need a bleed :)

I sidehopped to my Avid caliper and a pedal in a section at the Euros.

Brake worked fine, just scratched. So they don't fall apart the moment you hit them, and the power is excellent.

Mine squeals a bit now, but will probably quiet down soon, mine has been a bit inconsistent when it comes to grab and noise; one day it's super grabby and silent, and the other day it lacks the crazy bite and squeals a bit.

Power is still really good though.
