Whiteboy
ok well i want something a bit wider than my alex dx32 as setting up the brakes at the mo is proven quite hard as the brakes are all the way in and still got loads of tpa. so a wider rim should help. but i dont really want a koxx or anything like that as i used tio have mone and never had a working brake and dented it all the time. so i heard that sunn make some wide disk rims that you can just grind to make them rim brake compatiable. this true? what rim is it? and any other rims that are strong and hold grinds weell? eound the 40mm + ark? thanks
Spikenipple
How wide is the DX32? Ronnie rims are 38mm, as are Echo rear rims (i think) so they could be suitable, and i think it's a general opinion that these rims aren't cheesy :P
Whiteboy
my dx32 is 38 same as the onzas and echos etc.
N.Wood
Basically you've either gotta: 1. Use larger brake blocks or do a pad bodge and keep a decent rim or... 2. Put up with a denting rim and your brake not working that great. The only rims available really are 38mm wide or 47mm wide (apart from the Koxx XL but i don't think that's out yet :P ) Obviously the 47mm wide rims are the Koxx type rims that dent. So yeh... Janson
You could get a Sun Double Wide at about 45 mm. I'm pretty sure they're quite heavy though. It's either that or Koxx/Hog/Viz basically.
biketrialler
I remember Ali C's one of that, was drilled along the centre, then holes on the outside sections too! Obviously you have to grind as its painted. Looks beasty, I planned to get one of them for my Koxx then it went!
Luke Drewery
I would go for the viz rim, as it has eyelets and is very wide, the koxx drilled and onza hog rims dont have eyelets and are very cheesy indeed! Also the viz rim comes in loads of colours. Sunn double wide rims are bombproof but heavy, do like biketrialler said and drill it if you get one. Janson
The Viz is the same. I think the rims die of denting/cracking before spokes pull through.
grantham
onza hog rims dont have eyelets The onzas do have eyelets
thechink
i use a viz rims and so far they have been pretty nice. your always gonna dent a rim. just learn to ride better/land smoother. this is a prime example or trials for you. its harsh on your bike. fact. thechink

N.Wood
Try-all rim is 47mm and its pretty beast (Y) ← Have you actually read the thread? He wants the options of a decent rim where grinds last a while and don't dent as easily.
SQuiT-man
Im in the same situation at the moment too, didnt really want a cheese rear rim (although I settled for one on the front as no-one else offered the same sorta front rim width), but I definately want something wider than my 38mm dx32/onza rear rim. Whats this about a Koxx XL rim??
N.Wood
Details are pretty sketchy, they are available in the USA apparently... Basically the same as a normal Koxx rim, but 42mm wide  Check Faction bike for any details they might have... TheChai
well to be fair james not many people do 13ft drop offs and just pray their bike holds up too it, same for silly drops gaps and other 20ft to 1ft rails. i dont wanna sound harsh, but i will just like to say that gaps like that isnt just abt having alot of guts. if TRA had a viz rim i am sure it would last him long enough.. its the same as why Chris walker/Ben savage can use monty and try all respectivly and others just find that their made of cheese.
