Whiteboy Posted June 6, 2005 Report Share Posted June 6, 2005 ok well i want something a bit wider than my alex dx32 as setting up the brakes at the mo is proven quite hard as the brakes are all the way in and still got loads of tpa. so a wider rim should help. but i dont really want a koxx or anything like that as i used tio have mone and never had a working brake and dented it all the time. so i heard that sunn make some wide disk rims that you can just grind to make them rim brake compatiable. this true? what rim is it? and any other rims that are strong and hold grinds weell? eound the 40mm + ark? thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

N.Wood Posted June 6, 2005 Report Share Posted June 6, 2005 Basically you've either gotta: 1. Use larger brake blocks or do a pad bodge and keep a decent rim or... 2. Put up with a denting rim and your brake not working that great. The only rims available really are 38mm wide or 47mm wide (apart from the Koxx XL but i don't think that's out yet :P ) Obviously the 47mm wide rims are the Koxx type rims that dent. So yeh... Luke Drewery Posted June 6, 2005 Report Share Posted June 6, 2005 I would go for the viz rim, as it has eyelets and is very wide, the koxx drilled and onza hog rims dont have eyelets and are very cheesy indeed! Also the viz rim comes in loads of colours. Sunn double wide rims are bombproof but heavy, do like biketrialler said and drill it if you get one. Basically the same as a normal Koxx rim, but 42mm wide :huh: Check Faction bike for any details they might have... TheChai Posted June 8, 2005 Report Share Posted June 8, 2005 (edited) well to be fair james not many people do 13ft drop offs and just pray their bike holds up too it, same for silly drops gaps and other 20ft to 1ft rails. i dont wanna sound harsh, but i will just like to say that gaps like that isnt just abt having alot of guts. if TRA had a viz rim i am sure it would last him long enough.. its the same as why Chris walker/Ben savage can use monty and try all respectivly and others just find that their made of cheese.
