I used one for at least 2 years on various chains, never had one snap, although I did snap a chain at another point. Plus it makes it dead easy to get the chain on and off. Having said that, with everyone's stories about how they got nut-rape from using powerlinks, I do feel a bit safer with my KMC Kool split link.
