PaRtZ
I just picked it up out of the box and i saw this: It hasn't even had spokes through it and theres a crack. Is this OK though and did anyone else have the same sized gap? I can fit my fingernail in the gap if thats any help thanks :)
Brian Bleech
Isn't that just where the rim joins? If so thats fine it will pull together when built! But if its not get it sent back... mike

011001000110010101110010
Haahaa a mate of mine was buying one at last years bikeshow and the first one he was handed was like that. "Er.. can I have a rim that I can't see daylight through?" :) Talk to who ever you brought it from, if its Tarty Bikes or select bikes or a shop similar I'm sure they will replace it for you. Tom Booth
Thats right, when it is built the spokes pull the rim together at the join so the gap will go :)

JT!
Yeah they are only pinned, nothing to worry about. :)
Luke Drewery
When i got my koxx rear rim in the post i was worried too because i noticed a gap where it was joined and i thought the rim was defective or not going to be very strong. However, once it was built up the gap turned into a little line that you cant see through and i am still riding the rim now a year later with no problems. So yeh, build it up and ride it :o

Tomm
Mine is like that, even when it's built up. Pretty much all the ones I've seen have some degree of gap. But meh, they still work.
Dylan_
ever thing about building the rim up and then maybe taking a little bit of welding to it? then sand it down. This could make the pin stronger. Or am i stupid?

This could make the pin stronger. Or am i stupid? ← Your stupid. :o The pins arnt what hold it together really when its built up, the spokes hold it together.... But my mates after it was built up, split like this, so he just rode and it got bigger and bigger, intill the rim wasnt even joined :o

Tomm
on my mavic i didn notice anythin like that, but if everyone else says its ok id trust them ← That's 'cos Mavics don't have them, because they are nice :- I think Mavic weld the rim at the join and then machine the lump of weld off. Although, I think they are still pinned, but then welded.
