Will Arnold
...no, thats not what im talking about, hahaha i have a hayes hfx-9 carbon 6" but the rotor is actually 160 instead of the 6" that they claim, whats going on? :) im not atall annoyed but its just strange. i was going to make a custom mounting bracket going by their measurement(6"), it would have come out sooo wrong if i went by this measurement :P also, i was wondering if anyone could help me, im after a brakcet that will convert my hayes 6" (pah!) brake to use a 180 or 185 rotor, this has to take into consideration that i dont want to run two mounting brackets with each other. i have IS forks btw :bunny: its a tricky one!!!!! cheers Will Edited June 2, 2005 by WILL ARNOLD

Will Arnold
what im trying to ask is.... is there a difference between caliper of an avid 160 and an avid 180? thank you :) Will
Nick Garland
Only the mounting bracket that converts 74mm postmout to IS. So there is no actual difference between the calipers other than how far out they are due to mount. CurtisRider
i see what you mean boyo, and now im slighly miffed, there must be some sort of braket that exends it, cos the callipers themselves are all the same size, if you catch me drift? ive never had to actually use the hayes mounts, only the is probs best asking somebody with manitou forks :)

Nick Garland
I see what you mean now. :) 205 isnt overkil, its not enough :P You might be able to buy those Avid adaptors because in theory if you wanted to change your Avid disc size then you would have ot buy one. One of these is what you need. Turns a 160 into a 185.

Nick Garland
It converts a 74mm postmount from 160 to an IS disc mount at a 185 size. Which is what you wanted isnt it? EDIT: I see what you mean now. Yea flipping it over should work. I realyl need to real things fully. Might need abit of bodging. Otherwise I think you will need to run two adaptors. Waynio
just run the caliper you have (with the bracket on) with an extra PLUS 20 or 25mm adaptor. no problemo. dont worry bout adaptors you either want a good brake or a new set of front teeth which could cost you approx £200 PER tooth. as mine is about £150.00 a tooth i think John (Bongo) teeth cost him in the region of 200 each. so its either getting it right or bodging it and getting it tits up and it hurting you :o not the way to do it mate. :o Waynio.............................
