1065 And 1085

1085mm and 1065mm wheelbases seem to be the most popular at the moment.

So, whats the major differences? 1065 bit more streety mainly? Or is it supposed to be more for short people?

I kinda want something a little longer than my 1050, but am 6ft 2 and still growing so dunno wether to plan to get a 1065 to keep more streety or perhaps a 1085 and still do street dunno!!

Are gaps, ups etc easyer/just as easy on a longer bike?

Shorter will obviously spin easyer but cause im LARGE perhaps il cramp it?

I'd say go for the 1085, as it'll be a fresh change from the 1050, and as you said, you're still growing so it'd be worth it in the long run. Anyone can adapt their style to any kind of frame, just some moves may take a bit more effort, once you're used to them though you'll be dandy

Sorry I didn't really answer any of your questions :D

Go for the longer one, if your 6ft 2" your quite tall, You will gt used to it and I think you will be able to do everything better, echo's have a slacker headangle which pulls the bars back so they don't seem to feel too long but you still get the length of the bike when you need it.

Even with a 1065, I think you would be happy with this kind of length, I find most people seem to instantly like the frame whether they get a long or a short model of a frame.

Best thing to do is to get out on some rides and just jump on everybodys bikes and get a feel for different frames and lengths, peoples bar setup alters the way the bike feels and rides so make sure your not jumping on a bike with a dodgy setup as it won't feel right.

1065....... perfect for everything. i found the longer the frame... the harder to sidehop.

johal

strange, i find its harder to sidehop a short bike, cous its heavyer to pull up the front and if sidehopping from the back wheel, its harder to Keep the front up long enough to get your balance and pre-load. where as long bikes seem to prefer being on the back wheel than 2 wheels flat!

i came to this verdict from comparing a Orange Zero (bout 970 WB) to a Zoo Pitball Long (1090 WB) - i own the zero (

I would go for the longer frame, as the short wheelbase will restrict your riding due to you being tall. Im about 6ft1 and i ride a 1065 koxx levelboss and i find that a little restricting at times, however in general its ok. I would go for the 1085 being your height...

Go 1085 brah...

I went from a Giant 1040 to a Koxx 1065 (1090 with Ashton forks <_<) and my riding has improved LOADS over the time i've had the Koxx.

I'm just under 6'.

Everything other than bunnyhopping and manuals are sooo much easier, and has given me confidence with everything.

I guess you could run a shorter stem if you feel it's too long?

Or get a higher rise BB to make i feel shorter...

I went from a 02 Saracen MAD (silly short) to a T-rex (1085ish). I thought it would be like riding a train but it is actually more flickable and controlled. Manuals are easy and sidehops and ups are much much easier. Im only 6ft and it doesn't feel too long at all. The's only 2cm difference between the two sizes so will it really make that much difference!
