hi,

was ona ride today and found out that both my chainstays on my koxx lb mod have got cracks in where they have small drilled holes,

i can either leave school get a job and maybe get the same frame or an xtp,

or,

i could get it welded but im not sure if the metal goes weaker if it is welded? i heard that the heat treated effect goes once the metal is re heatd is this correct?

cheers guys

(a rather sad) craig :D

Yeah, leave school to get a new bike, that's an amazing idea

Leave school for a frame? Seems a bit OTT. Try and get it welded, or just ride it for a while and see if you can borrow cash for a new one?

If you find a proper alu welder, he should know what he's doing and will heat treat it again for you, i assume.

With or without qualifications?

Some people need to realise that there is far more to life than riding your bike. No point f**king your whole future up just because your bike broke. Finish school and get a job over the summer, durrrr.

Any decent welder will re-heat treat it for you, as it will be LOTS weaker once welded if they don't :D

But once it's been heat treated again it'll be fine.

Drop out of school to buy a bike? HAHAHAHA!

Ben

Re School: Yeah, I was super tempted by that, but then I realised I put a lot of work into my AS levels (sorta), and that they basically mean less than f**k all by themselves. It's really, really better to just stay on to A2, whilst getting a part time job (for the whole of my A2 course, I've worked Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in Somerfield stacking shelves, and all day Saturday running our lbs on my own, bringing in £4-4.5K a year, tax free ), and then just doing it like that. It's meant I can buy all the stuff I need to, have some left over, and still carry on at school.

Re the Warranty: Go for it. I remember Jack_flash on here had some issues with his Levelboss when he tried to claim on the warranty (Koxx bullshitting him about what was wrong with the frame, etc.), but just stick to your guns and it should be cool. The way the cracks have formed at the same points on each side suggests it's not an "abuse" problem because that would've suggested a single crack on one side more than a pair of similar cracks. Plus Koxx have had trouble with that sorta stuff on a few of their frames...

ive appplyed for and aprentiship at airbus and im quiet confident about it so if i get that job i will get some good money and qualifications and i just dont have any motivation for school anymore so i give up :D

im basically going to say to NSE on sunday that the frame is around 5 months old and just be all annoyed about it saying how it cost alot and its just broke easily etc etc  fingers crossed anyways :D

5 months? That's shit! For a relatively expensive bike frame, you'd have thought it would've lasted longer :D There seem to be a few cases of the more recent frames breaking around the vent holes, so maybe they'll be generous...

Let us know how you get on (even if you get told to keep it quiet )!

Typically, schools ask AS students to go back for the last 4-5 weeks of the summer term to theoretically start on the A2 course.

However, that's pointless 'cos you basically end up dossing around 'cos teachers know you won't remember a few weeks worth of notes before going on your summer holiday, and you're basically switched off after the exams anyway...

Ride it untill you dearn't, or untill it brakes.

Save up as much as you can.

Buy a second hand t-pro.

Save up, don't spend a penny on anything.

Buy a shit hot frame."
