Rob_P
As the title says really! I want to get either a mini ipod 6GB or a zen micro 5GB! I really love the zen and really want one and always have! They have also recently gone down in price and can get one for £130! I've been looking at my collection of music and it's growing steadily to around the 8GB mark, I think 5gb is ideal but as my music collection is bigger than this. I was wondering if there are any 10GB MP3 players out there that anyone knows what there like!?? I hear you say why not just get a 20GB, well there more expencive and alot bigger, I think 20Gb is a bit to big as well! Please help! Tomm
I think the 1st gen iPods came in 10Gb and 15Gb varieties. Maybe try and get one of them second hand?

Haz
I bought a 4gb iPod mini, even though my music collection is over 10gigs because I never listen to all of it all the time, so I just pick the playlists I want for that day, no reason to carry everything. Just go for the Creative and be done. Haz
Rob_P
Yeah good idea! This can be closed now as im buying Joes Zen! Cheers Rob  :D P.S Zen are bringing out a range of new players, a 1Gb, a 6GB and maybe a 7Gb as well! Most importantly they are bringing out a new one which looks EXACTLY the same as the micro but is slightly bigger and of 20GB capacity! (3G ones are much better than 1 and 2 G which had problems with batteries)
Dai the Socket
Erm. I wouldn't get one of those little Zen things. :P" 2 of my mates who have them, they've both broke with the same thing. When they're in your pocket, the headphone socket bit is kinda counter sunk through the plastic, and it can move about when knocked. It means the connection in the headphone bit f**ks up, and only works at certain positions. Which is a bit crap isn't it. Erm. They've both sent them back and got new ones. But one of my friends, his has already done the same thing again! So yet again, He's waiting 3 weeks for them to send a courier to pick it up. :-" <_< The other just sold his replacement and bought an iPod photo 30gb, from Apple.com/uk for £195 (with education discount - you can get it if you click on the 'education store' on the right of the homepage). Which just means you're in full time education, and may need to prove it. Or give any VAT number of a registered company, like a home business who a (family) friend may have. The new iPod Photos are really good. I've got one, from eBay, brand new for £209 posted with insurance, and the 2 year extended warrenty thing. They're ace, small, light, colour and hve 30gb of memory. They piss all over the 2 colour'd Zen's! And the older iPods. Battery life is pretty impressive too, being 15 hours on a full charge. And only taking 5 hours to fully charge, or 3 hours to 'quick-charge' up to 80%. Get onto http://www.apple.com/uk then go to the 'education store' and have a browse. You won't be disappointed :P. Also apple's support is second-to-none, so you know if you've got any problemo's, they'll sort you out. My battery went down to under 50% on my 3rd generation, and the next day a 'UPS' courier came over, picked it up, and within 3 days of them testing it, I had a brand new, BOXED and absolutly BRAND NEW, not refurbished, iPod. Sorry for the essay. I'd just go for an iPod over a Zen. As they break shit loads! :P Also iPod mini's are 1/5 of the storage size, crappy colours, black and white, and only ~£70 cheaper than iPod photo's. :) Hope I helped :) Nick
Rob_P
Cheers Nick that was really handy!! But now im in a real dilema!!!! Do I buy Joes basically new Zen for £85 or save up for yonks and get one of those ipod photo jobbys! The thing is, 30GB is a fair bit! Also Nick could you give me the link to this shop thing as I dont think I can find it! <_< Cheers Rob Edit! Actually I think i've found it, is that £195 for 30Gb photo but thats excluding VAT, so with that added it comes to £225 or somein!?? Also about this problem with the zens!?? Is it a common problem with them and is it likely to happen! Plus if it happens after the warrenty has run out then im fooked! I really want to buy Joes zen and I think I will but im gonna be right pi**ed off it that happens! Plus it's only what I can afford! The whole point with the 'Education Shop' is that if you're in full time education, or even part time to an extent, they'll knock the price down to £195 for a 30gb or something like £245 for a 60gb. Those are the posted and packaged prices. There's no other costs! :- Erm. I'm not tryin to put you off buying Joe's as that would be a bit harsh, and I know he wants to sell it big time.. But it's an honest opinion with what's happened to my friends. I also talked to one of them, and he told me his brother's hs done the exact same thing that f**ked on both my mate's ones. So it seems like quite a bad design fault to me! You might want to try and get a loan :) or beg parents? Or do overtime? Hehe. It shouldn't take you that long to scrounge together another £100 ish :P:P I'm not saying that you shouldn't get the Zen. Merely bringing it to your attention what else there is to offer, for the same kind of money, but a tad more reliable, and posher :P ...And it's white :P The link to the whole range of Education stuff can be found at http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/uk_Inst, and then the direct page link to the iPod Photo's can be found here. I've just looked on the apple site, and it adds VAT on at the end. Which is a tad confusing, as my mate bought one of them for £195 all in from the site. I'll get in touch with him.... :) Nick

Dai the Socket
Bumpage! Can Tomm or Nick please answer my questions! Thanks guys! Rob ← Haha.... :deej: Well... Thanks alot nick you little angel :deej: Yes I am at college full time so I can get them cheaper! Yeah that is the shop that I went on! Well I would ask mum and dad for £100 but I already owe them about £700 for motorbike insurance! :bunny: grrrrrrrrrrrr Well the options are as follows: Joes Zen which I really want for £85 Ipod mini for £109 Ipod 4th Gen 20GB for £165 Ipod 30Gb photofor £195 When I get paid in about 3 weeks time I will have £200 but I gotta give mum and dad some of that (about 50,) need general money for petrol, food, credit etc! I've heard there pretty good from what you and others have said but is there like a 1 year warranty on them and if it brakes after that can I still get it fixed unlike the zens!?? Thanks Rob ← The warranty on the new iPods is one year :) Previous problemos on Gen 3's, are that the batterys f**k up (from their standard 8 hours life) and then you can't replace the battery. However! The new iPods, and iPod photos (not sure about mini's) and the batteries in these have a standard 15 hour battery life, and are fully replaceable for something like £40. Their general battery cycles last much much longer, as they were concentrated on after earlier 3rdGen problems. As Joe said above, he had problems with the same thing my maates had. It shoes it was a definate design fault, and that they weren't tested correctly. It's a hassle. And to be honest, personally i'd rather have an iPod of some sort which will last ages, than have a Zen which you have to send back every 2 months or so, and then once the warrenty runs out. You're f**ked! Totally up to you. Depends on your cash flow but it's worth it spending that little bit more dosh on the Photo one for £195. In my opinion anyway. It pisses all over the normal black and white displays, and you always get people going 'wooooww colour'. But i hang around with some 'simple' people lets say :deej: Nick :P
