munkee
Wank Brake Syndrome, Also known as WBS can occur due to the following: Brake pads - are they clean? do they work well with a grind or a bit o' tar? Maybe you should switch to something else? Rim - Grind well? or not? Do you know how to grind well? Air in the system If all of those are running perfectly then... you shouldn't ever slip and shouldn't ever have to use more than 1 finger braking... BI-KING
Robs brake set up is fine ;) Its just that you never started off riding with 1 finger on the back brake! So you are use to using 2 fingers!!! and now that you are so far on with your riding you are doing bigger stuff than what you would do when learning to ride with 1 finger. What i am trying to say is your finger proberly isnt strong enough to hold the brake lever on tight enough to lock good. If you start off riding with 1 finger on the brake lever it will most likely get stronger as you progress applying more force on it to do bigger stuff. So all you can do is ride with it and get used to it :) (if you understand that) :) Edited May 30, 2005 by BI-KING

Bugger it, I might just use 2!! rocky, do you think my riding is ok for 2 fingers?
gazmaz03
:) Yeah just use one finger its just as good. Get more grip on the handle bar. Gaz

Si-man
It's just down to personal preference really. My mate uses 2 fingers on the back, 1 on the front, always has and always will. I on the other hand use 1 finger on either brake lever, just makes me feel alot safer to think that i have got 4 contact points on the bar, rather than 3. Like, you hold on the grips woth 2 fingers, then with the other 2 you hold onto the lever and pull, so you have the same grip on the bars, but better pulling power on the brake at the same time. munkee
Seriously this has gone too far, just use 1 finger on your brake and the rest on your handlebars. There are benifits for both ways but 1 finger braking will win, there is no need for two i just dont see how you could ever need them. If you cant get enough power from 1 finger then your setup is lacking no matter what your friends are saying. I think that you can use the brake lever as a part of the handlebars Only if your lever pulls back against the bars, if you use your brake like that how in hell do you pedal hop? (By the way dont answer that because i want this to end) Your hand wont want to let go of the brake when you go to kick :). Anyway.... just switch so this damn argument can end theres 98% of people riding with 1 finger braking as opposed to the 2% that are stubborn*. *These figures may not be enitrely correct but as a rough estimate to prove a point, are indeed useful.
