Pork Pie
What's going on with all the slating of 'styles' going on at the moment? It seems a minority can't accept the reason we ride trials. For fun? Why do people find other types of trials wrong? Like a street style is gash, and UCI is gay? What reasoning is behind you not actually accepting that different people ride in different ways, because their boat is floated differently? This isn't a slate by the way, I'm genuinely interested to hear the reasoning behind your thoughts :S Err, yeah, kind of hard to explain, so I can see myself coming across as a tit, but you know. Just wanna try and see where you're coming from really ;) Dave - This topic didn't work did it? spunkey_monkey_boy
thats the main aim of freeridetrials club is to just get everyone to ride together but obviously its hard to do events that everyone wants to go to... i dont get it, i don't like the divide and the way so much of the trials community is like 'you've gotta ride long low and silver' but then there's people like the boon, steve-a and phil (farney?) who help the resistance and show the other side of the sport. we have a few natural only riders round here and the other lads kinda fight bak when the whole street v's nat argument comes up because otherwise there'd be no one backing the street side but most of us ride both. its silly and alot of the time between riding pals its just banter but it can divide a small community and that'd be a shame... if you want UCI comps go to the worlds, if you want fun come to a freeride trial... Tom Booth
this is a valid point, why do people slate each other just because they ride a different style? preety stupid to me! ill ride anything thats infront of me, like the other night we had a piece of wood on a loading bay so we made this great ramp, was great fun. but then 20 minutes later we where all at another spot pulling gaps ect? surely trials is all about fun! not, my bikes better then yours, or 'why are you on the bash?', just shut up and ride you uci lovin twonks! Burton
i started to ride trials for fun..but at the same time i wanted to progress loads at it....which was also very fun. I dont think street is crap...it just seems a bit boring to me....ive tried it and just dont like it as much as UCI style riding...even though street is sorta fun, especially to watch (Y) Now i ride trials to mainly progress...but im having loads of fun competing with mates who i ride with. Luke Drewery
All the slating is silly, but its usually spawned because people have strong opinions due to the way they normally ride. For instance if someone rides comps all the time and takes it seriously to win, then they are obviously going to support that aspect of the sport, where as street riders have their opinions too (Y)

Nice going (Y) Just to set straight when i posted in the Akrigg thread i knew i was going to get slated cos i didnt like it. I appreciate that he is an amazing rider, and that i couldn't do any of that stuff, but i wasnt keen on the style. No big deal, i never said it was wrong did i? Tomm
Matt-its not really a secret now it tells you where it is "Secret Nuclear Bunker" (Y) ← Oh, you must be the brains then. (That's right, guns that fire shot...) To be honest, I find a lot of peoples' riding really dull. Like a mod video with sidehop, gap, sidehop etc. I can appreciate the difficulty and that some people enjoy doing stuff like that. But I probably wouldn't say that about someone's video, because it's only going to start arguments. In the same way that people are allowed to ride bikes however they like, I can think what I want to about other peoples' riding. I don't *really* see why we all have to be really nice to each other and love each other's videos.
Mark W
just shut up and ride you uci lovin twonks! ← Hipocrisy, anyone? Arguements are good, make people thinkg differently about stuff. I've learnt a lot from arguements on here just 'cos oyu see if from another perspective. I don't really find riding "Fun", as such. the actual riding element is satisfying, more htan anythihng, but it's the company that makes it "fun". Tom Booth
sorry aboiut thew last post. it was just a general summery, but i didnt realise i was hipocritizing(sp?)(lol i dont even know what it means) What it was meant to mean is people ride whatever they want on whatever bike, it dosent have to be a bmx you pull street moves on, it can be a trials bike, but people now are obsesed one sport should stick to one bike! Leave it be man! Just enjoy riding and ride whilst you can! before proper responabilities come in, such as a child or what not Sorry Tom Edited May 27, 2005 by Tom Booth
philking
but i didnt realise i was hipocritizing(sp?)(lol i dont even know what it means) ← In this case we meant that you were having a go saying we shouldn't 'diss' other riding styles, and then you blatently went and called the UCI people "twonks'. Dictionary meaning of hypocrite I am not having a go, and as far as i am concerned apology is accepted.
picki
Not everyone hates style, i dont care style they have. I think one of the main points of argument is that alot of natural riders will do comps (im not saying street merchants dont do them) alot of the time the mega focused attitude takes over and the said comp rider becomes an arsehole. Street is just more chilled out i think, you do what you want, in your own time and if you bail, who cares? Natural riders are usually just practcing for comps... This may possibly be going nowhere now...aah well Ride have fun, but dont cry if you make a stupid mistake, unless you twat your balls really hard (Y)

D-L-B
I don't see myself as a natural rider or a street rider. I just ride my bike. I mainly ride street because I live in the city centre and that's what's outside my door. I prefer riding off road but that doesn't mean it's better. You're all talking rubbish anyway. What the hell is 'UCI style' meant to mean? Do F1 drivers drive 'FIA-style'? Do football teams argue over who plays 'FA-style'/'FIFA-style'/UEFA-style'? If you open your eyes you might even notice that it's actually the BIU comps that are all set on natural terrain and the UCI comps are allmost allways man made courses. Where does this UCI=natural assiciation come from? Dan
