Nobody seems to realise that the ban on hats and hoodies is not because chavs wear them, its because you cannot see the faces of the people on CCTV. The same reason why motorcyclists have to remove their helmets in shops. You don't see them crying about it so stop whicnging and take your hood down or hat off, its impolite anyway.

Is it pathetic banning burbary caps in bars and clubs? No so whats the difference? Prevention is better than a cure, don't wear hoodies into shops, don't get followed around, good all round no? If your that bothered about wearing a hoodie wear it at home or at your mates not around shops in large likeminded groupees being pricks!

I think it's fair enough, if you're not a dickhead you'll just take your hood down anyway

If you are a dickhead, then you'll be cool and fight the system. Then you get your chavs etc dealt with. Which is good.

I'm all for it, theres NO reason to wear a hood up inside anyways.

And they're only saying if like more than 5 of you in a group have you hoods up then they'll say something..Which is fair enough.

More than 5 kids with hoods up are either on the day trip wth the 'I'm scared of the sun' society, or dickheads.

And anyways, it's their shopping centre, they can do whatever the feck they like.

They need to ban >45 degree hat angles. Not god damn hoodies.

You mean wearing a hat in a manner in which defeats the whole object of wearing it? I never have got the whole "vertical limit" hat stuff, it doesn't actually achieve anything, at all. (N)

The hoodie ban i can understand. I always wear a hoodie in the winter, but never wear the hood up inside, ever. Its again, pointless. If a security guard ever asks me to put my hood down, if for some reason i have it up inside, i would gladly put it down, i really can't see the harm heh.

Chav's are an odd breed.

Looks like I misunderstood. Hoodies aren't actually being banned, just wearing the hoods up indoors? If so that's cool, the only time I wear my hood up is outside in the rain or when I backwheel something and it flops forward.

I feel much less bothered now

don't know about you guys but i tend to wear a t-shirt in summer.

plus, how many tits actually wear a hood up inside (apart from the people they are obviosuly trying to stop).

exactly its not a ban on hoodies, just some shopping centres banning people wearing there hoods up indoors. The only people that will affect in leeds are chavs and emokids.

they did a trial in manchester (dunno which shopping centre) and the number of people shopping increased. Don't blame them if you ask me.

They did a trials at bluewater shopping centre, and the first weekend that hoodies were banned from being worn up, 23% more people came to shop.

Didn't they do a trial on giving fines to people who dropped litter in Manchester?

On the radio, they were interviewing a woman who thought she was unfairly fined because she didnt think a cigerette butt counted as litter... stupid woman

The thing is the people shopping wight have been because they heard about the hoody bad and thought "lets go take a look". Nothing to do with no-one wearing hoodies really, just publicity.

I actually have no problem with people banning me wearing me hood up in doors. What sort of a tosser wanders about with their hood up inside?? (N)

one thing i think is wrong is that the majority of this forum only blame chavs, i know plenty of shady skater characters who would steal things that live in my area. Clothes dont mean any thing at all, yes some people that wear burberry are dodgy, however i know a lot of very decent guys who are townie and they are much better mates than a lot of 'greebos' or whatever. It all comes down to discrimination, 'i dont like burberry, chavs listen to shit and always steal' that seems to be most people's opinions. a lot of chavs do start fights for no reason etc. but it isnt all of them so you can't ban one thing and expect it to solve everything. i think asking to put the hood down in a shop is enough, if they refuse they can get out. simple as.

yer but that isnt what a lot of people think, for example if a goth/greeb whatever started a fight for no reason they wouldnt be called a chav, chav is a name ( mostly ) given to people that dress liek townies the name is used in many different contexts which can confuse people. oh well. merely an opinion ! not trying to argue/offend .

Are you telling me to be quiet or quit?

Ban makeup!  It can be used to conceal your identity.  And all hats.  All shoes can be used as a weapon.

Don't be idiots people, let the inevitable take its coarse.

I think you shouldn't be allowed to enter a shopping centre with any clothes on so that you cannot steal anything.

Or you would have to be very determined to do THAT anyway.

Dude did you actually read back what you typed?

This ban is purely for identifying people if they go into shops and stuff, it's exactly the same as removing helmets.

Stop being a twat, going on about banning shoes because they could be used as a weapon.

You tool.

Its when a big group of teenages wear them, people feel very intimidated by it. Many older people are victims of muggins in shoping centres and the culprites can not be identified beacuse they are either wearing hooded tops or caps wich cover their faces do they can not be seen. Also bringing in this law will protect younger normal people i.e from chavs. If these type of people are banded from wearing there normal clothes then it will stop them from coming into the centre and causing public distress.

I really don't mind the ban of hoods being UP indoors because I hardly ever put it up at all let alone indoors where its warm and dry. Hoodies, the hooded jumper itself has been banned in my (soon not to be) school for these stupid people who supposedly run about in corridors, hoods up, kicking, punching and generally upsetting other people. I for one, even though there are alot of chavs in my school, have never seen this happening. IF the hoodie itself was banned in public why not ban rain coats and any other type of hooded garment? Because of non-visability from CCTV cameras or just the laws eye.

It is people who dress townie like (in my area anyway) who I believe are the trouble makers. I only have 1 or 2 townie mates, but still know that these chavs that dress this way ARE the trouble makers, all in all. We are stopped by Police and other 'safey' figures for just sitting around, walking, riding or just talking HOODS DOWN and quietly for damage and grafiti and its all the chav brigade. Call it descrimination if you will but its true.
