Gandalf the Yellow
i have heard many many bad things about CRC wheelbuilders are w*nk. >_< but i have come to a conclusion this is now wrong... few weeks ago i had a wheel built from CRC (i didn't know much about tarty so i didn't get one from there...) a mono on DT DB spokes/EX721 rim. - it was lush straight out of the box it felt as it should be built, a decent build. after weeks of abuse, heavy landings (i had a ronnie and a tryall before-they all buckled like hell with my heaviness of riding style) but this wheelbuild seems very very satisfactory! even after much much harsher landings today it was still holding up super strong with no signs of bent of buckling at all (very very minor if it did...) it gets double thumbs up for CRC. :( (Y) steve
Bionic Balls
it helps that you chose good spokes too.... for the prices..you couldn't really complain anyway. Hope it lasts! adam

Danny
A friend of mine got a 24" wheelset from them hope bulbs (ordered rear xc and front bulb but got 2 bulbs cant complain for free) on atomlab rims and so far they are fine. Ive checked the spoke tension a few times and they see no sign of loosening off or buckling after many a 6foot heavy landing >_<
Shaun H
Apparently there's one good wheelbuilder but the rest (however many there are) are crap at it, just what I've heard mind, they could all have improved lol.
N.Wood
Yeh my Hope XC on D521 with DT DB spokes has never been tweaked, that was run on the trials bike for about a year, and it's not on the DH bike. All good stuff :( My mate had a wheel built by them ages ago, and was buckled out of the box >_<
munkee
Why dont you build your own wheels? then you know yourself its a good wheel build if you sit there for 3 hours doing it (rough estimate on your first build ever time). Its not hard... have faith in your self and save some money.
Dr. Nick Riviera
and then die when the wheel collapses on a drop >_<"
munkee
............ did you read what i posted? its not like you need a PHD in bloody wheel building, a monkey with dicks for hands could build one. Clearly if your wheel crushes on a drop your an un smooth f**ker anyway.
Spikenipple
Are there any instructions anywhere on how to build a wheel? (3x and 4x) Also, how do we determine spoke length for the build, and is the exact spoke length absolutely imperative to the wheel build? Mike. munkee
Search for sheldon brown on google ... although.. i had to actually get the link for the monkeys with dicks for hands so ill give it to you too: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/wheelbuild.html Look in the faq for tartys whole guide to calculating the length for spokes, also on tarty bikes at the BOTTOM of the page there is a spoke chart which will give you the correct lengths if you have the rim and hub listed there. Correct spokes are IMPERATIVE if you want a round wheel that you can actually lace and true and ride on. Whats 10£ for spokes? f**k all.. and it means you wont come winging after your first ride.. something along these lines "my wheel broke it was a good build.. yada.. yada yada... bit of tar... blag" sorry.. i love being a willy >_< Edited: Gut Red Ef Oil Muh Tweckzt Twork Edited May 22, 2005 by Spacemunkee
