I'm trying to connect my PS2 to the net with my network adaptor i bought for christmas.

I have brought my PS2 etc downstairs to the pc and have connected one end of the cable to the network adapter and the other to the LAN port on the back of my PC.

Is this right?

I have put the network access disc in the PS2 and when it trys to detect the hardware it says "cable not connected properly"

I have no idea what to do.

an anyone help?

Cheers

Erm, have you got a router? Or does the internet go straight into the back of your PC?

Im guessing if you have a router, you need to plug it into there, or if you dont you need to unplug the computer from the modem, and connect the PSX to the modem.

Possibly.. >_<

I have the aol modem you get with he broadband package...do you mean I should plug that into the PS2 with the usb ports on the front of it?

i'm really confused about this.

I've put it all back to my room now but please keep posting so i can do it in the future (tomorrow >_< )

No - Leave the modem where it is. AOL sucks. USB modems suck.

Anyway. Apart from that it stil should work. Can you "bridge connections" between the ethernet (what you plugged the crossover cable into on your PC) and the usb modem? >_<

Nope. If you've connected the PS2 to the PC's lan port, how have you connected the modem to the PC? (Via USB?)

If your PC is saying 'Cable Not Connected Properly' on a crossover, that means that you need to use a non-crossover cable, or connect them together via an auto-crossover router/hub.
