Ok, I have a dmr revolver singlespeed hub and Im changing from 22t up front to 16t. I will need to go down to around a 14t I believe and what I want to know is will a 14t acs fit on any side of my hub before I buy?

'lo.

Firstly, it's late, and I've just written a 4,000 word essay on "Compare and Contrast Plato And Aristotle's Views on the Acquistion of Ethical Understanding", plus I spent 6 hours in a darkroom earlier, and thus feel like shit. Therefore, this may be wrong.

It's just unlikely :S

Using Mr. Calculator, you can work out the ratio you will need from what you have now. Basically, if you want to run 16:14, it will feel like a 22:19 ratio. So long as you're cool with that, we'll continue.

The Revolver hub has two sides: standard thread, and the Micro-drive system, compatible with compact BMX freewheels. Basically, that's 14t freewheels and under. Therefore the ACS 14t freewheel will only fit on the narrower of your threads, typically the "left" if you've been running a standard freewheel so far. If your wheel's dished badly or you're using the disc adaptor, you'll be raped. If your wheel build's good though, you'll simply need to slip your tyre off, turn the wheel round, and put the tyre back on, assuming it's directional.

There is actually a 14t freewheel made by "AC" - NOTE: NOT ACS, I don't think... - that is compatible with standard threads. However, as you can imagine, you're putting 10lbs of shit into a 5lb bag, so it's not super strong. I'd recommend the ACS Fat 14t over it, to put it another way.

Anyway, if you've got any queries, PM me and I'll reply in the morning whilst I'm putting off writing the conclusion for previously mentioned essay...

Cheers Mark. It is an ACS 14t I have been looking for and found one on customriders. I run 22-19 at the minute for 16-14 sounds like what I need.

Im having thought about the strength of the smaller freewheel but I guess only time will tell. Im quite happy with my 2 ACS's after they were cleaned out and welded.

The ACS 14t freewheels are pretty butch, to be fair. Might need to keep an eye on the spacers inside as they sometimes have a habit of lunching themselves. On the back though, the freewheel pressure is reduced so it should be cool :S You don't even need to weld them or locktite them shut either 'cos the motion of the wheel doesn't unscrew the lockring.
