Dr. Nick Riviera
well ive got a new printer and its an epson cx 3650 we had a hp all in one and took it back due to installation problems although this one is doing the same thing . basically when installing the software goes ok untill its time to plug in the printer and get the drivers as it wont detect the printer , it also installs the printer to the lpt1 port instead of the usb port . has anyone else had a similar problem with a usb printer/scanner combo recently? cheers a very aggravated charlie
Tomm
Does the USB port definitely work? What about trying with another cable? Is the printer switched on when you plug it in?
Dr. Nick Riviera
yes ive tried with 3 cables the port definetly works and ive tried with the printer off and on
biketrialler
Are you on Windows XP service pack 1 or 2 ? If not... it might not work as Windows XP non service pack doesnt properly support USb2 which your printer might require... the answer - go on windows update and get the service packs (they are free!) Thats assuming you have a legit version of windows. If its pirated, installing a service pack might well stuff your windows install like a turkey at xmas! Tomm
I think you may have to Google it/phone up tech support for where you got the printer :S
Danny
My epson used to take forever at the detecting stage in the end most the time i just cancelled the detection and set it up manually :S
lego
As stupid as this might sounds, one of my computers has a duff USB port. I found this out by trial and error...try plugging the printer lead into another USB port. If not search the net for the latest printer drivers. Dr. Nick Riviera
b-b-b-bump well "the shop " said it might be as the printer is usb2 and my computer isnt ? anyone offer any advice on that?
MaXsteri
Should be backwards compatible USB2/
Mr Motivator
Kick it. Failing that, go to the control pannel and the printers and faxes, right click said printer and then go to properties, port and select the right usb.
