lego
Could I remove the rear sprocket with an oil filter remover? looks the same as the proper sprocket remover tool. Oh yeah and which way do you turn it :- Edited May 11, 2005 by lego

Lawnmowerman
wrap the chain whip around the cog so it wont move, then use a proper cassette lock ring tool and undo anti clockwise :-
lego
ah I need another tool (lock ring tool)...wondered how they did it :-"
Lawnmowerman
you'll need one of these. Make sure you get the right one though as the freewheel removal tool is very similar and wont work :-

Jonny Shoe
I'm sorry for stealing the thread but I am just about to put my sprocket on a new hub and I was wondering if most mod sprockets are universal? Thanks :-
Mark W
Sure are, unless you've got a flip-flop (threads on both side) hub, and you're trying to put it on the micro-drive side, in which case it won't fit. Other than that, every screw-on sprocket will fit every mod hub or front freewheel crank :- Mark
Jonny Shoe
Thanks very much that will save me a few bob. :- One more thing what is the average gear ratio on a mod just in case I may have to swap my sprocket.
mtbsteveo
I believe most mod riders run an 18 tooth on the front and a 12 tooth on the rear, but it is personal preference, on my mod i have a 17 tooth on the front and a 12 on the rear. I can only see one's for £20 on cleanbikes and tartybikes.....
