Todge
Hey guys. Been busy over the past few weeks making a soapbox racer out of Cardboard for a uni project. We have to race this thing down a slalom course at the end of the week too! Made entirely from cardboard and PVA, were only allowed to use other materials for the wheels and steering. Amazingly, it rides very nice and is super quick to get rolling and not too uncomfortable. Will get some video clips of the race itself. 011001000110010101110010
i thought soap box racers had to be boxes with four wheels? If not, that a way cooler idea.

pinky
how fast can you go on it? ← depends on how steep the hill is :-
andyroo
This sounds like a good uni course... what is it?? :-
Dan6061
depends on how steep the hill is :- ← well yeah..ok lemme re-phrase that... how fast have you gone on it? (guess)
Todge
Its pretty quick, but obviously depends on the hill. It picks up speed quicker then a normal bike cos there is less friction due to no gears and brakes rubbing etc. The course Im on is Automotive Design at Coventry University for the guy who asked. picki
that thing looks mental! hows she go round corners? cram some slicks on it less rolling resistance!!
Todge
To go round corners, you steer/lean.
wally
Looks good Todge, looks very influenced by your dad's drag bikes. :S Hope you win! (Y)
picki
To go round corners, you steer/lean. ← do you? my god i thought youd drag your knees on the floor till you stopped, picked it up, altered the direction then carried on rolling.... :S
D-L-B
It picks up speed quicker then a normal bike cos there is less friction due to no gears and brakes rubbing etc. ← you want to set your 'normal bike' up properly then :S .
Todge
We raced it. Lost in the semi finals by about a foot :S Not too bad though, as its still in one piece and we might try to enter it at Nass into there soapbox race.
