JonPace
whats good basically? I want pinch protection but low weight and 2.35 size.
CurtisRider
high roller single ply is good :S im running it in you old curtis forks (only just fits!!!) its comfy, reasonable in weight and i havent pinched it yet, although it hasnt really had many hard knocks
Brisa
Im using a schwable big jim light with a standard tube. It is a nice size for a claimed 2.25. VERY light and nice grip. No pinches with it despite some harsh front wheel beatings.
Andy Vox
Mitchlin hot-s in 2.3 are very nice. Haven't pinched it yet and I keep missing stuff to front wheel and hitting the corner of the walls or ledges, and thats with a standard tube. So i would say that they are a good choice. Plus mines a few months old and i ride 4-5times a week and there are still bobbles on it from where it was molded! EDIT: Its light also but 2.3 not 2.35 but i'm sure .05 isn't going to make too much difference Edited May 10, 2005 by killbobuk

Tartridge
60A though... won't grip that great unless you only ride dry street. But I agree with single ply Maxxis :S
ben_travis
60a grip aint as bad as people make out, i was learnign front hooks in the rain with that on the front, but yea if you want better grip or you ride natural alot then run a supertacky or slow reezay ben
guineasmithpig
i'm gonna say hutchinson octopus. i know some people run em on the rear, but mine on the front has been amazing! 2.35 wide and pretty tall, giving great bounce on touch hops, and awesome wrap-around grip on rails and other thin stuff, though its really stable on my <-W-I-D-E-> front rim. oh, and as they are a soft-conditions DH tyre, they have big sticky out side knobs, which hook onto stuff really nice. some people on a reading ride a while back might have seen me rear wheel a bin, and about one side knobble saved me from face planting the wall in front! not the cheapest (bout £27 i think) but i've had mine for bout 2 years now. was on the rear of my giant for at least 12 months, and replaced the hot s on my koxx front wheel once it stopped working and i switched to a wide front rim. only 900g, which is pretty decent, considering its also well up to rear wheel duties too! i'm looking to go for a new 2.35 on the front, and get a 2.5 on the back as well. octopus by name, octopus by nature......... smithy
James_Porter
60A though... won't grip that great unless you only ride dry street. But I agree with single ply Maxxis :S ← how much grip do you need :S i have used them on the slippy wet rocks down my area and they work fine and also on smooth mossy walls and still not a problem. maybe its cause i havent tried the grip of a super tacky or what ever on the front but the way i have my front tyre at the moment it is fine, i do run kinda low pressures on the front. i would say go for the single ply 60a on the front jon as you are a j-boy who doesnt like rocks and there is more than enough grip for what you will need and it and last for ages (had mine a couple of weeks before christmas and i still have a couple of months in it) Edited May 10, 2005 by James_Porter
guineasmithpig
having just posted above, i went to check out the current hutchinson prices and...... i never remember payin about £35 for my tyre?! :S have they increased in price the last couple o years or somthin? plus i was quoted much lower prices by a lbs who rang extra uk to get the prices. what the.... still ace tyres all the same :S smithy

robonatomz
kenda kinetiks 2.35 stick-e. best front tyre by far. iv tryed them all, including maxxis. its by far the best for grip and its light too.
b'mouth trials
El Gato ??? I'm running a 2.25 and it seems fine :S . Might not be too good against pinches at low pressures but meh, just another option. Aaron.
Luke Drewery
I would say go for a maxxis high roller with a harder compound, they have width, protection, grip and are good for bumping and front wheel moves. Not too heavy, either :S
STEVE-0
kenda kinetiks 2.35 stick-e. best front tyre by far. iv tryed them all, including maxxis. its by far the best for grip and its light too. ← I agree, these tyres rule. I have 1 on the back and crazily used it for street today but it helped me sidehop 3" over bar and touch bump from a bike and a half away from a wall. I dont have any experince of the front though, but i do know they are well soft, they feel like a slow rezzay compound, slow rebound! I wish i was sponsered by a tyre company, it would rule getting new tyres every month! :S
Nick Garland
Where can you get Maxxis Single Ply in Super Tacky as CRC only sell them in the 60a compound.
