Ali C
I just got some clarks stainless cable this morning (for my bmx) its the smoothest, flexiest cable I have ever felt! This is with no lube or anything. I turned the cable through tight bends but it still slid butterly smooth. With some wd40 in there I cant imagien a smoother cable! Luke Drewery
I recently fitted my avid (about two weeks ago) and im using a fibrax cable. It was only £4 for inner and outer with loads of cable to spare when you have cut off what you need. I got it from my local bike shop though so i dont know where else you could get it from, probably chain reaction cycles etc. I recommend it for performance and value (Y)
CurtisRider
cant go wrong with a nokon cable! expensive but will totally transform your brake!!
Ali C
I aint too keen on nokon. I have had it twice on my trials bike and front and rear on my bmx. On my trials bike, it was the dogs danglys, but I found it crimped quite easily and it got rougher and rougher, I tryed renewing it with a new inner, but the kink in the cable just made it always feel rough. Same story on my bmx except they only worked (reasonably) well for a couple of weeks untill they were unusable. straight out of the box the nokon isnt the smoothest either, even cheap no name cables felt better. Tomm
I tihnk I'm just using bog-standard shimano stuff. It does the job 100% fine to be honest...
Endohopper
Even the best cable will perform dissapointingly unless cut correctly , meaning nice clean cut staight across the top , filing off any diagonal excess if need be . Clean / replace your ferules aswell , when necessary .
