RyanRs
Help! how do i measure the size of my chain to find out weather i have a 1/8 or a 3/16 ? monkeyseemonkeydo
Magic thing's around called rulers... measure it? ;)" From what you say I expect yours is a 1/8" since 3/32 is the smaller one for gears which you don't have (apparently) and 3/16" is silly oversized that BMXers use and are pretty much like those found on mopeds. ScotchDave
It's a 1/8th chain, cos the big ones are 3/16 and the gears are 3/32. ;)"
Burton
www.alansbmx.com Use a tape measure and measure the width of your chain in inches
monkeyseemonkeydo
Use a tape measure and measure the width of your chain in inches ← Except that's not how they're measured. 3/32", 1/8" etc refers to the width of the teeth on which the chain runs, so the measurement is made between the inner plates of the chain... I think! Dave
RyanRs
Thanx everyone. I tryed measuring my chain, but im not very good at maths, so it didnt mean much to me. it measured 0.8mm wide at the widest point of the chain. i no its not the small version as my friend has that, and its not as big as the KHE Collapse Chain which has 1/2 pitch.. What the hell is PITCH? i assume that the KHE Collapse Chain is a 1/2 " as i havnt seen a KMC as big as that. so mine must be a 1/8 Oh well. the links only £6 Ry ;)
Mark W
The "pitch" refers to the length of the chain, whereas you need the width. Seriously, unless you specified "KMC Kool Thin", you'll have the 1/8th" version.
