nb88
Hey all... was just taking my brake off and it was really really stiff, when id managed to takeit fully off, i found that a bit of the helicoil in one of the mounts has come out (Y) . Heres the piccy... Do you think its fixable? If not what else can i do? Just tap to another size, or can another helicoil be put in? My lbs did it and i really dont know why its ripped out... Cheers for any help, Noz.
Tartridge
I would guess you can take it out and put another in. But jeezz, go easy on the brake mounts in future (Y) And some grease wouldn't go a miss :P

totaltrials
You can just replace it with another one pretty easilly, helicoils are slightly springy so it'll always allow you to run a tap down again and replace it with another helicoil (Y) Phil. Prawny Baby
as great as helicals are.... i dont understand why they dont come out more often.... i know its stretched out as u wind it in, and threads shouldnt be stiff.... but we all know that aluminium and steel (not sure about stainless) undergo electrolysis and stick together in things like seatposts in steel frames.... so why dont tehy simply unscrew out with the bolts more often?
