OnzaNewbie
I've gotta get some new cranks, but I dont know what lenght to get becasue I have 175mm at the moment but having got a new frame i need new cranks and I don't know is best for mods. Sikamon
its all personal choice, people run anyting from 158 to 175's on mods atm i am running 158s but if i even need to change them (unlikly monty x lites do rule) i might go for some longer ones
Hobnobs
I much prefer 160mm cranks over the 170's. It gives the gear ratio a much more solid feel which i like, if the cranks spin too easily, it just feels weird. Saying that, 170's make gaps feel easier, but blunts harder (i think). You could always go for the middle ground ie. 165's. Mod cranks typically come in 158, (monty, try all i believe) but i would always go for 160's. PythonRider
165 mm 'Burns on my mod, and they feel perfect. Tom
Mark W
Used to run 158mm Muscleman cranks. Switched to 175mm's, with the same ratio, and I really, really like it. Once you get used to taking off a bit later for backwheeling (which means (Y) for front-touching), it's sorted, really. Managed to get an 8 1/2 ft flat gap today which I'd never even gotten close to doing with 158mm's on the bike. For power moves, they're just the shit, basically. The extra length means more leverage, but you still have all that lovely, juicy 18:12 power, so it's just more easily accessible. I'm really glad I changed to it after being initially sceptical. I used to do loads of road stuff, so I've got fairly powerful legs, which meant that at 18:12 with 158mm cranks it almost felt too spinny, and this feels slightly spinnier, but once you get used to it you can still give it some beans :- Might like to try 170mm's though as they're not quite as extreme, but yeah - longer is really, really f**king good (Y) Mark
..johal..
to me 175 cranks on a mod would feel like i'm standing on the foloor when pedaling johal
Mark W
to me 175 cranks on a mod would feel like i'm standing on the foloor when pedaling johal ← Yeah, but to me - someone who's running them  - they really don't. You notice the larger crank rotation at first, but you get used to it pretty quickly.
CurtisRider
if it makes any difference marcs got himself an echo team, so ermm maybe some people who own them could say what they run? doubt it makes much differnce though :) if at all
Will Arnold
175's all the way
JT!
Just get some 165mm, and try different bikes with difference lengths, i personly prefer my long teniles as you have more chance of resting a pedal on a rock, and having a rest on those big long natural sections. GuyJames
I have 170 Echo cranks on my Python and they are the shiz-nizzle! Like above, static power moves become soo much easier, I pissed all over 6"4 gap today which was way out of reach when I used shorter cranks (having said I was on a T-Pro, but you get the idea (Y) ) They ofcourse will feel weird at first but now a couple of months down the line I would never go back to anything shorter.
