Shaun H
Earlier tonight I had a great ride in town and on the way back I decided to have a go at a large gap I've been thinking of for a while. I sprinted down the hill towards it began to run out of gears so absolutely pedaled my arse off to get that extra little bit of speed then tryed to bunny hop but didn't get the lift I needed. This resulted in what must have been the funniest face I have pulled in a long while as I flew towards a kerb at top speed. I landed front wheel into the kerb but luckily I'd reacted fast enough to throw my weight back and just twatted it really hard and the bike bounced up. There's a massive fold in the front rim which I've managed to hammer back in without taking the tyre off or anything so I've just got to sort out the inward fold to get that back to normal. But my main concern is that the forks strength may have been seriously compromised from the impact. They are pace trials forks and I think I've heard people talking about them snapping a little easily and that it has a bonded steerer. Anyway I was just wandering what people thought about it as I'm not that experienced with trials parts (only been riding 6-7 months) and their life time/strenght. BI-KING
Take them off and have a look at them, Just check for cracks and check around the bonded area

Luke Drewery
Yes i would recomend echo urban forks, very nice. As people have said just check carefully for damage particularly around the crown area.
spangler
I'm of the opinion that it's better to be safe than sorry and if i was you i would buy new ones if you have the money and if not start saving, because if you cant even see any damage it doesn't neccesarily mean that they aren't damaged  Edited April 30, 2005 by spangler
Tomm
Yeah, but if everyone changed their forks every time they thought they might be damaged, we'd spend a fortune. Leave them. If they snap, they snap. You couldn't have hit it that hard if you didn't pinch.
ScotchDave
Yes he could, it's called a decent tyre/ high pressure.
JTM
Without a doubt the best forks around these days are echo urbans. But that dont make them the strongest. Id say pashleys are actually the strongest or at leastt he mst fatigue resistant forks on the market. Either that or the 3 year old pair im still using were dropped from mars on some form of alien spaceship >_<
Damon W
ive heard of Pace forks cracking/snapping just under the brake mounts >_< as the others said just check them properly. if once youve checked them and refitted them, and they creak and or click THAT is when you worry (Y) should be fine though :S
Shaun H
Thanks guys, I took them out and checked them as closely as I could without having to remove the headset race. Went for a little ride earlier and can't feel anything other than the brake being a bitch on the rim fold and grabs every revolution (probably won't help if there *is* a crack) Oh and thanks for that info DW I'll keep an eye on that area. >_<
Mr Motivator
Take your tyre off and have a look, cause if has happened, then could too.
