Firefox

On my home machine I have:

Adblock - The one and only, most useful extension ever.

Tabbrowser Preferences - absolutely invaluable. I think this should be integrated into the main product really.

Download Manager Tweak - now my download window shows up as another tab (as well as other useful things)

BugMeNot - seemed like a great idea, in reality often not as useful as it could be.

Down them all - useful, but in limited range.

I used to have a lot more on my work machine, including things like all the web-developer extensions and a whole pile of other things that made it a little easier to do web coding stuff. I can't remember what they all were now though.

What do all these plugins do?

And can I find them all on one website?

In Firefox terminology they're actually called Extensions, and they can all be found here or by selecting "tools"->"extensions"->"get more extensions" from your firefox menus. There are descriptions for what they all do on that site :)

I can't believe no one else uses mouse gestures. They are simply the best thing since the internet, really. I use All-in-one gestures. Aside from that I use the obligatory tabbrowser preferences, download manager tweak and adblock.

I wonder if the fact that tabbrowser preferences aren't built in is something to do with Opera, and copyright issues? Opera as standard is amazing - it has mouse gestures, full tabbed browsing, that download manager tweat all built in as standard. But it's just not quite as customisable as Firefox. Also, it's not free either. Unless you pay for it/crack it, you have to look at ad's in the top right corner :-

Just got mouse gestures, took me a while to worl out what it actually did, pretty cool! Could be well handy for the experienced user :-

I use tabbed browser something and web developer. Use a proxy changer thing in work, and now also mouse gestures :)

Good work. I used Opera before I used Firefox, and like I said, that has mouse gestures in as standard. After a while it comes 2nd nature to go forwards, back, close windows, refresh etc, it's a lot quicker than using the stupid bar at the top.

Actually, that reminds me, do you reckon it's possible to actually remove those buttons? (backwards/forwards/refresh/stop/home)

Anyone care to yell me what mouse gestures are? Thanks (Y)

Well, for example.. (dunno if this is the default setting.. cos I fiddled around with it without knowing what I was doing), but on mine if you right click and drag from right to left on the screen (backwards) it will go back a page.. drag forwards and you go forwards a page. Looks like pretty much every 'gesture' you need can be set :(

Hold down the right mouse button and click the left - goes back

Hold down the left mouse button and click the right - goes forwards

Becomes very intuitive after a while - plus there's things for every command you might need. It's worth installing even if you never use it. Although I guarantee you will (Y)
