Spikenipple
How much space is left on your hard drive? You need a certain amount of space (almost always over 400mb) for a PCs 'Swap file' which uses the hard drive as memory to move files around. Try freeing up some hdd space and see what happens :)

I.e if you have 512MB of RAM, you should have at least 1GB of hard drive space free :)
Rob_P
I also have this annoying problem! I have about 2GB free on my hardrive and an external hardrive where there is 150GB of free space! I'm asuming it's running off the laptop internal memory, am I correct? Rob :)

(For WinXP pro) Control Panel - System - Advanced tab - Underperformance, click settings - Advanced tab, click the Virtual memory button. Make sure that's set to C:. It's probably not a very good idea setting it to the external drive, as that will be really slow compared to the internal hard drive. Although 2GB should be fine. tank_rider
your best to probably manually set the minimum limit to twice the amount of RAM you have. However before you do that, do a defrag on your hard drive to get all your files in order, and as much free space together as poss.
