3 Piece Crank Chain Rings

Just what is the smallest chain ring you can buy for BMX 3 piece cranks. I know there must be a limit, due to the bolt on the crank arm that you tighten the chain ring to.

Can you get an 18 tooth? (Y)

i had on one reetard cranks with dmr elite bashring and ran a 22t chainring, i twas a standard 5 bolt that fitted to an integrated spider on the back on the bash

Yea, its just like a goldtec one, my dad made it me when I mangeled a spider and asked him if he could fix it, kinda evolved identical as a goldtec one, even though I didnt know they existed hehe.

Either get a goldtec one, or get a Macneil 25t bash, run like 20t at the back, be nice, what Luis has on his ET.

Paul from Southampton ran a 22T flatland sprocket on the profiles of his 24 Curtis for about a week. Can't remember what make it was but I expect James (666ers on here) could help there...

I can't remember what it was unfortunately but it didnt really work so it doesnt matter really. It was mainly designed for 1 piece cranks and he had to ovalise the bolt hole which resulted in a big egg which made a nice tight spot in the chain.

Spider/built in bash thing is the way i'd say. You could probably get someone to machine you a bash that small.

I've used the goldtec trials guard for 3pc'ers.

The chainring bolts on the bashguard. the bash then bolts on the cranks. It's great. It has 5 holes to use for the main bolt, so if you waste one side of the guard you can simply spin it around and use a fresh section.

I'd highly recommend it.

Didnt onza do a 3 peice convertor for front freewheels to be fittedto ddg driver cranks? couldnt you ring superccles and enquire?

I think 18's going a bit too far but many companies manufacture MTB spiders for 3pc cranks.

I ran a really lame cold forged one from some company that went underground years ago, on a pair of chieftans for 3 years and it was fine... this was with the old old middleburn bashguard.

you either need to run the dmr/ preferably the goldtec one with a 20t 5 arm ring or get one of the old onza FF converters and run an echo (or similar) fixed cog...
