Tom Booth
I bought a t-rex frame over the weekend and when i got it i asked for a new set of rear brake bolts *kid walks into back gets me 4 brake bolts, the actual ones* hands them me, and when i get home buildign the bike up and put the bolts in the back brake and there too long to go to the bottom of the mounts! Anybody else had this problem??? Also is it ok if i chop about 5mm off these bolts to make them fit, as im using spacers and cant get the proper tension on the plates needed to hold the brake Cheers Tom

Should be fine, but just make sure you dont crossthread the mounts thats the last thing you want!! My mate did after 10mins of having his new steel megamo. philking
not nessisary, just cut down the ones you have, it is a very common thing to have to do, dont be afraid, afterall its just a bolt and aslong u put it in carefully there wont be a problem

Cheers Tom ← If you have doubts - try the cut-down bolt in a loose nut first. That way if the cut is a bit 'off' - at the worst it will only have cost you a nut & bolt, and not any kind of engineering on your frame. If you cut it straight, and just tidy the thread up a little bit with a file, you'll be fine. ... err, fine that that is - as long as you've not been given titanium bolts of course, which would have already cross-threaded by the time you've got home.
