Michael Hardman
Im very tempted by a curtis frame but I want to put some sus forks on it, no more than 110mm, 90mm if pos. I know jonnys done it and I asume he likes it. Reckon it would work with the above combo, i just want to have a bike i can go dirt jumping on a bit, do street and trials that lots at home wherever i take it. Maybe for once I can have a trials bike with a seat, go single speed and go grindsng on like a bmx.
Krisboats
my friend does everything on an azonic steelhead. dirt, downhill, freeriding, trials. admittedly he can't gap as far as me but he can still hurl the bike up bigger things than me and it's similar to him riding a small car. If you like the feel of the bike it may be better to have a single bike to do everything on instead of different bikes for different things. i personally like having a trials specific bike, a dirt/freeride bike and a bmx (although i hardly use the bmx :"> )
ScotchDave
Only thing I can think of to warn you against is that; if you get a curtis without sus corrected geo your bb could end up miles off the floor, which would suck.
Brian Bleech
either go for a curtis or leeson, who both should be able to make what you want! or off the shelf, a giant STP mike
spunkey_monkey_boy
most trials frame (old skool ones with seats, dbr tibos, giants etc) handle amazingly with an 80mm fork on reagdless of the fact they were designed to have rigids on... buy a 2nd hand leeson and stick sus on it... (pm me for details on a second hand leeson) (Y)"
Michael Hardman
Checky bugga, hehe, I ve found a few curtis t1 comps either one would do me. This is just an idea as I have revision to do and rather than do it Id rather buy a new bike as I fell its more interestingt han revising. I cant motivate myself, Ive had enough of revising now, 3-4 weeks now and another 3 weeks left.

Shaun
Mike, check out the new Atomlab frame. It's bloody light for what it is, geo should be sweet with some 80-90mm forks on, good enough to do some trials aswell.
spunkey_monkey_boy
atomlab frame not bad, much more of a jumpy type bike though...
boon racoon
if you buy a new curtis frame gary can alter the position of the headtube for you to match it to the fork you are using...roughly keeping the geometry the same.
skandy32
i would seriously recommend a giant... i slapped on some 80mm bombers for a joke, and i've never looked back! its brilliant, and with a slightly higher gear i'd be happy to use it for jumping... check it out.... Sam Nichols
Why has nobody mentioned Norco? Surely that should be you're first choice if you're looking for a 'trials' with sus! I mean look at leechy boy! (Y)
Gandalf the Yellow
i reckon no more than 80mm for trials, and 80mm should be enough for a bit of dirt jumping too! :D a norco would be very nice, but it is a bit of a pain to get 1 imported isn't it?...apparently the norco evolve is not getting imported into UK till 2006!... (Y) anyway, i think any short streety frames with a 80mm sus will be perfect. leeson giant pashley (mhz) old t-rex/woodstock? norco evolves pace ID judge etc. on the jumpy side... DMR sidekick ID jekyll azonic steelhead and on the bouncy side... marzocchi EXR pro/MXcomp manitou blacks/axel? all i can think of at the moment. will edit if i can think of anymore steve Edited May 24, 2005 by StinkEE
Sam Nichols
You don't put sus on the Norco evolve! Thats like the onza//koxx/etc competition. Norco Moment is the sus one :D As for the other frames you mentioned, you have to remember that suspension puts stress and strain on all these different weird and wonderful places on the frame as well as messing up the geometry - so you could end up with a frame that feels poo and goes SCHNAP! However safe bets seem to be things like the Giant frame (since andys is holding up fine, put a proper seat on though! please...) also the diamondbacks like jonny jones seem ok and he loves his :D Join the revolution (Y)
Lukeee
I've curently got a bike built up for the same purpose as what your trying to achieve. Mines a Gt Hans rey frame. With some old Rock Shox , Double front chain ring with a 32T bash. Front disc and rear Mag etc. Rides a real beauty, Been dirt jumping and i've rode street on it. Seriously good fun.... CurtisRider
im now running judy xcs on my base cos my curtis forks snapped and they are surprisingly nice! they are currently running at 100mm travel, with standard (seem very soft) springs and very slow rebound-they make things like rolling gaps and wheelswaps odd at first but once you are used to them they can be used as an advantage im gonna shorten them to 80mm and stiffen them up so they are comparable to dirt jumper forks (not not as gay looking (N) ) i doubt i will stick to suspension, its only a temporary solution till i get new forks but its definately worth a try
