Has anyone seen my shoe?
I dont know if you know yet and I dont know if you care but adobe have bought macromedia. (Y) You may ask why this is a bad thing. Well there is no need for them to improve as they have no major competetor. Which means that photoshop and flash and all the other stuff will stay as they are now which is alright but could be better. like i said I don't know if you care but I thought id tell you all! Thanks, Callum

Has anyone seen my shoe?
Just been told of some more reasons why its bad. We have choices being removed; to use freehand or illustator, for instance. As far as I'm aware, adobe have had no pratice in devoloping in a HTML WYSIWYG application, therefore, dreamweaver's fate is very uncertain. And, there is the slight problem of loading times for PDF's. Tried lodaingb one of them up recently? They, take, f**king, forever, to, load, and, sometimes, don't even load. Sometimes, they even crash whatever brower your using. Now, imagine that happening with flash files.
JonMack
Basically Adobe bought Macromedia for $3.4 billion Dreamweaver will be kept, as its better than GoLive Freehand will be dropped, as Illustrator is a stronger program IMO Flash will be developed better. Fireworks will be dropped as Photoshop is Industry Standard InDesign had no competition from Macromedia anyway so that will be kept the same. Adobe have just bought pretty much the only competition they had in the design software market which IMO is a good thing because it will lead to stronger development of applications. Adobe has a workforce of over 4000 over the world and Macromedia had about 1420 or something like that. From my POV as a Graphic Design student, its a good thing, as the song goes "Things can only get better" *awaits Adobe CS2 arrival when I get around to ordering it*

No one in the industry used them, hence scrapping them 2) They aren't just going to fire all the macromedia staff, the same development team keep working on the HTML stuff 3) Adobe aren't just going to 'f**k up' flash (Y) It's a good thing. I've been using photoshop and dreameaver for coming on 7 years, since PS4 lol, the lack of itegration between things like photoshop and devwev is a pain in the ass, and the integration of the two will be a wonderfull wonderfull thing. Adobe are a very sucsessfull and clever company, they know what their client base want, and their client base aren't 17 year old kids with downloaded copies, they are huge companies looking for the most streamlined and inegrated soloutions possible. As someone with an adobe membership and software packages i'm super-pleased!

Thanks, Callum ← In my opinion it's a good thing. Flash is utter shite at the moment. And adobe will improve it, and actually make it work well, on every computer I would imagine! Adobe make awesome things. Photoshop is a prime example. Having Dreamweaver and Flash under Adobe's belts now being a good thing. In my opinion. Alexx
What do you use? ← I have a tablet, so it's easiest just to use photoshop, if I want vector (which is near never) then i just use the freeform vector tool + tablet (Y)
JonMack
(Y) Fair enough, I think I'm gonna get a tablet soon, what would you recommend? A Wacom Intuos 3?

Haz
Yup, A4 or A5 size (Y) Nothing beats them. ← Have you had any pen trouble? I have an earlier model and I have had two replacement pens in two years. Pain in the arse! Anyway, me thinks that it will be good in the long term, more integration and all that. Simon
Who ever says its bad has never had to design a fully integrated site with dynamic flash, fully functioning photoshop layout as well as all the backend code to make it work. Yes, it may mean the products won't develop as fast, but it sure as hell makes things a lot easier for most web developers and designers. Draw a sketch in Illustrator, export to Photoshop, export to Dreamweaver, code it, export navigation to flash, flash it, export back. Etc. You won't see new products from the macromedia line under adobe until next year atleast. It's also last weeks news, get with the times.
