Siders77
I think everyone uses AutoCad or something like that. Search AutoCad Here (Y) Hope I help mate!

Except some freeware/shareware things which I wouldn't give room on my 420gig worth of hard drives. It will be very had to find a free copy of AutoCAD legally, as it will be to find any decent CAD package. If have the means to obtain this software by other means (p2p?) then it shouldn't be too hard to find a copy, though I'd reccomend having a look for Solidworks as well, I find it's much easier to use if you are working in 3d and shouldn't be too hard to find... rich4130
I used paper. Much easier to get a basic design imo, and you can see obvious bad points.. And, if you cant draw it on paper, u'll have no chance on CAD etc, its to hard haha.
Ali C
I agree, paper is never really on people list, I find pen and paper my fave way of designing bikes, its quick, easy and you get results. two examples of hand drawn ones.

Ali C
yeah, but its crap and needs to be on the underside.
OD404
The comments about paper couldn't be more true. It is almost impossible to create something from scratch in CAD. The use of pencil and paper (if only to generate a few rough ideas) is paramount in the design process. And as Ali has demonstrated, they can look no less impressive. CAD really only has the edge if you are design a frame/component with the aim of actually making it. It's all well and good using a CAD package for design visulaisation, but the dimensional accuracy gained by using these types of software is in my opinion wasted. Yes you can create a pretty picture, but how did thousands of pounds worth of software actually help you? I think some people's perceptions of these software packages are rather misguided. But don't let that discougrage you from having a go, find out for yourself.
