Halflife 2

well i borrowed half life 2 from a mate ( dont say buy it )

and am trying to install it so that i can play it offline without having to use steam

( as the cd key is duplicate as its a borrowed copy )

but my futile atempts are well ... futile

so does anyone know of a way i can install the single player half life 2 game to run offline without steam

You need to log into Steam with a legit Half-Life 2 account, then set it to offline mode every time you start Steam.

May i warn you that if you both get caught logged onto the same account in two places at any one time, the account will be frozen :D"

Edit: The CD key can only ever be registered to one Steam account, so there's no point even trying to use it on a new account.

Well Ive tested your theory, Ive had 4 people on my account at once, in 4 different servers and nout happened to my account. Its risky but meh. Anyway if you borrowed it then he probs wont be playing it anyway so just use his account anyway.
