grantham
Well ive gone to front freewheel set up now on my 26" but im having a problem. The freewheel is rubbing on the bottom bracket shell. It still has some threads left implying that it will screw on futher but its already tight up against the bash. Im running tensile cranks, coustellier bashring, FSA Platinum DH ISIS 128, eno freewheel. Anyone got any ideas why its not fitting? thanks patt
AdamR28
How thick is the bashring at the base? How much is the freewheel rubbing by? (approx)
endofreak
I run tensiles, an eno and Coust bash with a 128 Try All BB. It did rub a very tiny bit but I think it eventually ground enough off by itself to run smooth. :D I have heard that spacers can be bought for ISIS BB's, is this true? Me being a newbie to the ISIS world N all.
Bionic Balls
Spacer isn't going to make any difference since it rubbing on the BB cup itself.... i've been through this soooo many times- here are your options: 1) grind the tabs of the freewheel (it can make ALL the difference, just a couple of mm's). If you need to get the freewheel off another time, just cut yourself some new tabs with a dremel (works fine on mine)... 2) file a "weeny" little bit off the BB cup itself. You can probably take off half of the material and still use a BB tool with ease and it will be perfectly strong enough etc.... 3) change the bashring...although the coust bashring is the thinnest that i have ever had (just found out I had the ONLY gold coust bashring EVER!) The first two steps should sort it...and you'll still be able to tighten up your crank as much as you like :D hope that sorts it.. adam
Waynio
the only other way patt would be to buy the new UCI tensile R/H crankarm? as that is designed to use a uci set up with front freewheel. as if i remember right when you got the cranks off me they were the standard ones with the screw on bash? Waynio................................. if you want one cheap ring supercycles and ask them if they can do a warranty replacement or half price replacement? a little bit cheaper for you. pock3t
My ENO keeps slipping, or missing an engagement, but I still have confidence that it wont break, for some strange reason. And it came loose a bout a week ago but since then it has been fine. Has other people had these kind of problems? Pock3t
Mark W
Hey pock3t, What might be happening to yours is what happened to mine - basically, the sealed bearings kinda bed in to a small extent, and when they do this, excess grease is pushed out of the seals. This is pretty thick, blue grease, and because of the way it goes out it goes onto the pawls and the springs. When this thick grease gets onto the springs and the pawls, it stops them from moving as quickly (it also acts to make it quieter). I stripped and thoroughly cleaned mine and put a little GT-85 in there, and it ran way better. I've had a few skips since Saturday when I stripped it again to clean it (I was bored :">), where I think I might've not quite reassembled it correctly or something... But yeah, strip 'n' clean :D Mark
Janson
There are spacers for ISIS axles, slide on the axle and the crank sits a few mm further away from the BB = no problems. I don't know where to buy some though, and you'll have to find/make up some dimensions for one..
