Hobnobs
Just a few questions about mod bars. Firstly: are there any bars i should specifically stay away from if i like my face. Secondly: Ive seen onza carbon risers on bikedock for 34 pounds, are they dodgy or something, as theyre 52 from tartybikes. Thirdly: Monty X hydra bars, how long would they last, and what would i expect to pay for a second hand pair in fairly good condish. Cheers, Phil. Hobnobs
Yeah im considering them, but its a throw up between the 34 pound onza's and the zoo's. Onzas are carbon and lighter, so i dunno. Ive been offered x-hydras so im thinking about getting them.
Mark W
Onza Carbon risers get as many thumbs up as I could realistically fit on a page. They're super good bars; perfect feel, look great, nice sweep and rise, etc. Really recommend them :P Mark
Will Arnold
i'd say go for zoo!'s best bar ive ever felt :P chears
ScotchDave
Onzas, good shape, good back up, good bars.
CH!P
Monty Riser's :P I wouldn't use anything else... Koxx - Mingin feel... Zoo - Mingin feel again... Flat Bars - suck :P ... OnZa Carbon's arent bad, but I prefer Monty's. That's all my opinion by the way, I understand other's like them :P
James_Porter
echo flat bars, i think they are really nice and i used to be well against flat bars. and for £25 you really cant go wrong and i have never heard of any snapping...someone will prove me wrong no doubt :P if not zoo risers. or you could go on a ride and try all sorts out... Luke Drewery
I would definately go for zoo risers, they have a very nice feel to them and can either be streety or compy depending on how you angle them :P
Hobnobs
Well iv'e just bought the onza risers, if theyre not too my liking, ill see if someone wants to trade a set of zoo's with them. They sound like they should be very nice anyway, woo.
JT!
I have the onza flat carbons, not a bad thing to say about them. Mind you its it just a bar.... :P
joe b
Thirdly: Monty X hydra bars, how long would they last, and what would i expect to pay for a second hand pair in fairly good condish. Cheers, Phil. ← Do not, i repeat do not get monty hydra bars. Back in the day when i had my hydra i bought a pair of monty bars for it. Just an upgrade after about a month or so of having the bike. Took my old bar/stem off and found a huuuuge stressmark as in if id of rode them for another day they would have snapped. I was wank then too. Cheers, Joe. CH!P
I was wank then too. ← As though your not now Joe :P Only messing. Hydra bars are crap anyway, feel HORRIBLE!
Prawny Baby
Mind you its it just a bar.... :D ← yup :P its JUST the single component on your bike that you can change to change the way you diretly interact with your bike.... think about it, pedals are pedals, flat, spin round.... pedals!!!! bars on the other hand, are our only other direct interface with the bike! and the wide range of bars around means its a MASSIVELY important component, its not JUST a bar.... bars come in so many different widths, styles, rises, angles, materials, that i reckon its vital that you get the right bar for your style of riding and type of bike.... so take some time and think about it.... personally, i was sold in brisa bars and NOTHING else for my first 3 years of riding.... ive now been running pazzaz carbon bars (onza) for a year and i really do love them i must say, i cant fault them, the shape, feel, weight, rise, and at the time of purchase.... price, is just perfect! i love them.... however, ive not tried them on a mod. although i can say a mate has recently gone from base flat bars on a t pro to zoo risers, and the difference in his bike, and infact his riding after just 2weeks is AMAZING! hes suddenyl developed a whole load of talent we never knew he had..... which, riding his bike, i put down to his awesome new bar setup! i also MUCH prefer his bike to another mates setup, which is basicly identical with the single exception of a brisa bar n stem.... the zoo bars feel awesome on his t-pro, so id be inclined to vote for them :)
Will Arnold
i think JT said "its just a bar" on the basis that the guy was either gunna get the zoo! bars or the carbon onza ones, which are both v good bars, meaning either will be good, thats how i saw it though :P maybe wrong though hahaha tarrrrr Edited April 17, 2005 by WILL ARNOLD
