Punkrider
Hi all, I have a Hope Mono M4 at the moment, and have lately been thinking about a change, i wanted to try a V-brake. Is this a bad idea? This is the set up i was thnking about: Avid Speed Dial Ti Lever Avid Single Digit Ti Brake Arms Avid Flak Jacket Brake Cable Set Heatsink V-brake pads Is this set up any good, i wan't to make sure, because it would probably cost what i could get for my disc? Cheers in advance Adam
Caleb
Yeah seems pretty damn good :(
TheCircus
I have heard that the Avid Ti Brake arms are pretty flexy :( I would reccommend; XTR Brake Arms XTR Brake Lever I have heard nothing but praise for XTR series of components. The only downside WAS the price, but that has now gone down drastically, making them a brilliant choice. On the side of cables, I have heard that the BEST cable, for everything is; Odyssey Linear Slic Cable This setup is not only light, but (relatively) cheap, strong, and super powerful braking! The heatsink V pads are also a good choice
Trebor
I'd say it was a pretty silly idea, a disc is more powerful and a better lever feel. Try a mates setup, granted it will be different to the setup you're wanting to get, but it should make you realise how much better your disc is. Plus disc brakes tend to be a lot less maintenance, work in any conditions, pads last for ages (in comparison to vee pads). Keep the disc :(
Punkrider
Thanks for the help so far, are the ti brakes arms flexy? Adam

Also, if you sidehop to the left disc's might hold you back in fear of bending your shiny new disc. They also sometimes make a gay noise *cough* Hope *cough*. And we all know that gay noises are...gay.
rich4130
Just get the normal SD7 arms, I got a pair of Avid Ti's off ebay cheap, and the little noodle bit pin broke... XTR Lever. SD7 Caliper, standard rim wrangler pads are good, heatsinks when they wear out. Odyssey Slic cable, normal £2.20. But then again, you already have a decent brake, and your only a begginner yea? Can't see the point in it myself.
TheCircus
your only a begginner yea? Still doesn't mean you can live with a shit brake?
ScotchDave
Don't bother, stick with you front disc. I have a front vee and a rear one for that matter. I love them to bits, but I think I'll be going for the disc upgrade, as they apparently have more modulation, in the summer.
