Tomm
Does it show up in Device manager at all? Like "Unknown device" or something? If not, then it's probably a hardware problem, which you might need to fix in the BIOS.
Si
In device manager it comes up with "Other Devies - Serial infrared port" with a question mark. When i go into the properties it says there is no software installed. but i dont know what make the laptop is so i dont which software to een start looking with :(

munkee
i could never get the ir working on my laptop, until i went in to the bios settings ( the bit where you like press f2 on startup) and found that the port was disabled so i just had to re-enable and once restarted windows recognised it and installed. tank_rider
have you tried a simple driver update from the device manager, expand the device that isnt working correctly, right click then update driver, it may ask you if you want to look online for it, allow it to do this and it may well sort your problem. Either that or try running the windows update software, then look in the drivers section, you may find it sitting waiting for you there.
