Sam ← I'm drawing that conclusion myself Sam,but i need both as i play ice/street hockey and my legs and elbows aren't in the greatest shape from playing so i do need the protection.Cheers for the reply/advice,the 661 pads are the only ones that i've been looking at!! Cheers, Mike.
Backgren
not very helpful, but I suggest you should look around on the web first, like 661, Fox racing, UFO... or go to some skate/bmx shop and try what they have, its important to keep the movability (sp?) in trials :ermm: i know it can be hard to find shops with these kind of stuff... matthewholdsworth
ive had a pair of on one camo shinpads cost me £25 about 3/4 years ago, they are pretty battered now but still do the job
desire68
Cheers for that,i've done a search on google and the 661's are looking to be the best choice for me as they are both light and flexy!! Mike.
monkey_pork
I chainsawed my shin open a few years ago, which has left me quite understandably nervous about it now. I always ride in pads - this winter I've been using the 661 Veggie Wrap pads and they have saved me loads of times. Might be a bit warm for the summer though' as pretty much all of your lower leg is covered, not just yer shin. Roach do nice fitting hard-shell pads that might be worth a look if you can't get on with 661 stuff.
Andy Vox
Try www.chainreactioncycles.co.uk there brand x ones are very good for price and function, just look abit wank but whos cares if they do the job?

Mark W
I think you'll probably out-grow the feeling of a need for elbow pads, to be honest. I know I went through a stage of "How much armour to wear?" when I was learning at first, just 'cos it all seemed a bit daunting (I don't mean this in a patronizing way, by the way - sorry if it comes across as that!). But after a while, you get used to riding, and you feel more confident, so you'll probably ride with less and less of it. I've tried quite a few types of armour, and the three favourites I've got are the "Troy Lee" (<- Not actually Troy Lee, but Troy Lee put their logo on them; also named as Azonic, etc.) hard-shell knee/shin pads; Axo (<- again, not just Axo) pads; and 661 Veggie Shin Wraps, which accompanied me when I was riding in the summer. Didn't feel too hot then, although I hate the look of the new ones... Azonic pads Sort like the Axo ones 661 Shin Wraps (gash '05 model) Click the pics for their ChainReaction write-ups :S
joe b
I wouldnt bother with elbows/ knee pads mate. The furthest most people go is shin pads. Anyway, scabbin ur elbow is kooooool :S , just jokin. Cheers, Joe. Edited April 15, 2005 by joe b
desire68
Your advice and links are all good ones, thanks very much for the effort lads. The reason that i'll need both elbow and leg pads is because both of these body parts hurt like crazy when i bang them and i would be silly to think that i'm not going to drop,so it really is a need. The ones i like at the moment are the 661's that Sam posted at the top of this thread,i've been looking at these for a while now and they look like they do just what i need them to without going over the top! Cheers again lads. Mike.

Hobnobs
I like those 661 shin guards a hell of a lot, but do they protect well? they look quite thin.
Littleharrys
I use the fox Neoprene pads, v comfy and they go round the back too. There about 35 quid. Harry
