There's nothing wrong with speeding just don't take the piss or endanger other people.

I've only been stopped by the police once and that was for doing 60 in a 30. He let me off but told me off.

I think the police have a good idea if you are a tit or not when they start talking to you.

I dont think I EVER do 30mph out of my own will. Only if Im stuck behind someone. I consider 40mph to be totally acceptable.

So what are peoples views on doing 70mph in a 60? Or doing 80/90 on the motorway? In these situations it wouldnt really matter about hitting anyone, as if your doing 70mph and hit someone/something, there will be very little difference in the damage you do if you were going 90!

I guess it's more just that typically it'll be 70 on a motorway or something, where there's a greatly reduced chance of some pedestrian pottering about. Typically, 30mph limits are in residential areas though, where there's a greater chance of unpredictable people walking out in front of you, or something like that.

i go as fast as i think i can handle...i think most people just drive within what they see to be their capabilities.

remember back to when you first learnt to ride a bike, I know i never sped around really quick until i felt in complete control, and i now that i can handle a bike resonably well i go a fast as i like becasue i know i can handle it.

speeding is wrong though and i would never go rediculously fast.

I just remember what a slog it seemed to be to get my license and dread the thought of doing it all over again.

Thats the key, just not being stupid.

On the point of speed cameras, I dont think they cause anything but trouble and see NO reason for them except for outside schools and the likes. I shouldnt be looking at my speedo, worrying, I should be looking at the bloody road.

Its like in Switzerland (I htink it was anyway) where they got rid of all the traffic lights. The logic was, if you come to a junctin and the lights are about to change to red you will speed up and try and make it, resulting in accidents. But with no lights at all, you will slow down and actually LOOK to see if any cars are coming. Seems clever to me. But cant see that working in a congested city.

Well at 70 you have more time for you to react than say 90, though i do 80/90 traffic allowing lol

You broke the law and got punished. You can't moan, it wasn't unfair. Whether it SHOULD be a 30 zone or not doesn't matter. If it's a 30 you can't moan for being done for going over 30.
