1 finger on each brake for me, when i was first starting using v brakes i used to have to ride with 2 fingers on each which is why i probally couldnt gap. If i try using 2 no i struggle so much its stupid i cant even back hop with 2 fingers on the rear :P a few people i know can ride properly with 2 fingers on each but i think its abit pointless becuase it must mean you have less control.

I was lucky enough to have trials as my first real biking experiance so I've grown up using one finger (in my 1.5 year trial sense) It may take a while but you need to percist because you will find it hols you back alot with two fingers, I know my friend used 2 fingers and so couldn't hop properly because there is to much "lag" time between your lever out and in, also one finger allows you to drag the brake, so holding the lever in slightly reducing travel distance between modulation and lock!

I'd definitely suggest you keep the one finger braking up.

I used to ride with two (three when I very first started, and still thought endos were cool :D" ) but realised it wasn't going to work when I started hopping. Two fingers on the brake mean you only have two small fingers on the bar when your brake is off, which makes keeping hold and stable very difficult, and you lose a lot of control.

To start off with just practise it on a flat piece off tarmac. after a while your finger gets stronger, but it takes a while, stick with it. When my brither started me off doing it i found it hard, but now i find it so much easier to pull up.

I rode for 3 years with two fingers (didnt know people actually rode with one!)

I never had any probs with not having enough grip on the bars.

I then thought it would be best to try one seeing though everyone else seemed to, I got myself an rb lever to try to force myself to use one. At first I couldnt even lock the wheel, it took about two weeks to begin to get the feel for it.

now its just normal to use one finger, but I now get arm pump a lot more, so sometimes in comps I still use two fingers.

When starting out i put two fingers on the levers, then i promptly got told that was a no no!#

It's easier with one finger as many have said. And the poll shows that the majority of riders use only the one finger. I hear all the Pro's are using one finger, you can do it too!!!
