To All You Onza Bashers.

One of them basically came on saying "Is this frame (or something) good?", and then signed out, and in again with another account saying "Yeah, it's great - get an Onza." It went on, and there was about 5 "different" people (with the same IP...) chatting about how great Onza are. Turns out it was just a whole thread of the same person talking to himself...

Well apparently it was workers on the factory floor using one of seven computers which they have there... :) and there was quite a few threads that they 'contributed' to.. :) Thats in the past now, and as I said they havent been on the forum since then anyway.

Eitherway, I think the majority of 'onza bashing' comes from before then.. when the stuff they made wasnt as good as it is nowadays.

Just to clear up a few things.

1 Onza is the spanish word for ounce. It is also used to describe an almost mythical wild cat very rarely seen on the Mexico/ USA border areas. Its only connection to hedgehogs or porcupines is through our use and the original owners use of the hedgehog device which is one of our trade marks.

2 The T-Raptor frame has been redesigned and pictures of the salient features will be on onza.com next week.

3 No member of staff here is allowed to post on this forum without express permission from me first.

4 Our first 20" trials frames were designed and produced in 1999 so it was seven years ago not the three or four which keeps cropping up. At that time the only 20" trials bikes were Monty and the cheapest alloy framed version was over £1000. There was no Koxx, Zoo ,Echo, Brisa, Base or Ashton to compare with and our alloy frames were a complete leap in the dark for us. Of course we made mistakes and all these other companies have learnt from our mistakes but so have we. We are proud of having brought trials bikes to the masses and removed its elitist image. We are happy to be the bike of choice for the newbies because we now have bikes and products which can move up with them as they improve.

On the whole I am glad to see that most postings here have been positive in our favour. I would consider Mr Berridge's comments a victory in that the only criticism he could manage was raking up yesterdays news. Particularly relevant when you read his last blatant advertisement for Curtis on trials chat.

Mr Burrows

Berridge*^

I would consider Mr Burrows comments a victory in that the only criticism he could manage was raking up yesterdays news. Particularly relevant when you read his last blatant advertisement for Curtis on trials chat.

As far as I was aware the thread was about reasons why people bashed Onza, and those were 2 I came up with - old or not. (Coming onto a public forum and effectively trying to shut down your competitors / put people off certainly stuck in my head as being a bit off, especially since trials is so small) As everyone has said, they don't get much shit anymore, and rightly so.

Things have improved amazingly since the first bikes (I was around when the "first" Onza stuff was about, but I don't mean that) and all the troubles, and the stuff seems pretty decent with rider input etc. A lot of it might be similar to other frames but everyone does that nowadays.

As far as blatant advertising goes, I believe there is a thread in trials chat too about a new "Toxin" frame which has just come out with the spec listed etc. It's there because it's a new frame on the market and people want to see what it's all about and know all the info about it. That's what I did with my post - a new frame (bike) on the market.

:D

Just thought I'd take this opportunity to congratulate Onza on the Woodstock spec bikes they have released.

Up until recently I've been very much against Onza for a couple of reasons...

Firstly their bikes have always been (to the knowledge) 'proper' trials bikes in that some are crescent, they are low and they are very trialsy etc, now this style of bike doesn't really appeal to me.

Secondly I've always been put off by the fact that i see ghetto kids riding to school on Onzas and at skate parks etc - but they can't actually ride trials (one scally didn't even realise he was riding a trials bike!) I'm afraid to say that this brought an element of snobbishness into me in that I didn't want these little ghetto scallies to see me riding a bike like them!

However...

I will almost certainly be purchasing a Woodstock as it is exactly what I'm after - top spec, nice and streety looking but it's not too streety - perfect :D

I'm glad to say I have matured and realised that image is nothing, so the name and the fact that ghetto kids ride them doesn't bother me.

The frames look nice, if it snaps I’ll get another one half price.

Good work guys :D

onZa make a good popular range of beginers bikes.. that is where all the money is.. simple really, but in my eyes onza are good but weak frames.... to hear about an onza frame cracking/snapping isn't a surprise

Argh, i've explained this once before, but i will explain it again.

I will pick a completly example set of figures for this example.

Lets say 1 in 10 frames crack. Now lets say Onza sell 100, thats 10 frames. If Koxx then and go sell 10 frames, thats only one gone. Echo then go and sell 50 frames, thats 5 gone.

Now, which is the public going to notice, Onza, Koxx or Echo? Thats the only reason you see mostly onza's snapping, because they are a mass producer and therefor sell a hell of a lot more. Yes, they used to be weak, but they certainly have changed there ways.

My apologies to a Mr Burrows if there is one out there. I did of course mean our old adversary Mr Berridge. I don't know what we did to upset him but he has consistently criticised us since almost before Onza in the DDG era.

When you have a vested interest in promoting a product and you use a medium like this one, it doesn't matter how you dress it up it is advertising. You highlight the thread on the Toxin, which I personally think is pure and simple advertising.

If you purchase and use a product and you think it is so wonderful that you have to tell everybody about it ,that is ok. If however you are involved in testing and marketing a product and you post information to promote it, then it is advertising.

It just appears that some advertising is accepted on here and some isn't.

Haha I remember being outraged at a few things in the past but that seems a little excessive :S As far as i'm concerned Onza have improved in every way and I actually respect that a lot. Remember though, if you come onto TF as a company/brand directly then you're treading a rocky path. At this point i'll point out what happened to the last British bike manufacturer to regularly post on here *cough* PX.

Advertising? I guess every new product that gets talked about could be classed as advertising, it all depends on who it is posted by. If it makes you and the admins happy Mike..i'll get one of my mates to post and say "oo have you seen Boon's new bike..it's mazie." next time. And also for your enjoyment, I won't ever mention Onza ever again :(

Peace out
