that NBR dude
Ok, I have been granted permission to do my comp, so what I want from you guys, is suggestions about anything. I want to know: What kind of obstacles you want How you would like the sections set up How many sections/laps What kind of routes/difficulty Would you like a raffle with prizes Would you like a fun speed trials event in the evening I have ideas myself, but Im doing this comp for you lot, so im going to let you call the shots. One thing I would like your discussion on, is time limit. Would you prefer a set 2 mins per section, or mototrials style, set time limit to finish the entire lot, with your time recorded after each section, 1 dab added for every 30 seconds you go over the set time? The general details so far are: Will be in West moors, for those of you who went to the demo, its in the same place, except now I have the entire field to play with. It will be either the 7th or the 21st August, to fit around comp calendars. Will start at 10, try and finish the comp by 4, and then do the speed trials (if we do that) at 5. Tarty bikes will also be there selling top quality gear, possibly with the Onza prototypes on display for you to see as well. Unfortunately, its not near a station like I originally hoped for, but I am trying to organise a few cars and a trailor, to transport anyone who is coming by train, but if you can come by car, it would be easier. Entry fee will be somewhere in the region of £10, which covers 2 things: The rental of the land, the rest goes in the pot, which is being donated towards DJs memorial. All money raised, other than the costs of land/trophies/obstacles ect is going to DJ, so this isnt a money making scheme for me. If there are any budding artists out there, Im after section design. The main thing Im after, is to make the section all out of one certain object, eg: Spool section, or tractor tyre section. This will make it easier for us lot to set it up the day before. Thats pretty much it for now, but if you have any suggestions about anything, please leave them here, or talk to me on MSN. Also any volunteers to come along the day before and help put it all together wud be greatly appreciated, and rewarded with a pint down the local pub (age requirements apply :- ) anyway thats enough rambling from me!! Andy Edit - forgot to mention, Im in need of some observers, so if anyone is interested, let me know Edited April 2, 2005 by NBRtrials.tk
Matt_Tupman
Right that was a lot to read :D As a fellow organiser I think what your doing is great :) every comp you organise will be so nerve racking but it's a good laugh at the same time. From what I read it looks like you doing a man-mande trial outdoors (Y) seems like a great idea epecially in the summer. As for section design and ideas you may already know that we are holding an Indoor event in September and were are also going with the themed sections idea. I thought cars, pallets, cocrete pipes, logs, sleppers, skips and a few other little bits. So thats what we are going to do, I have drawn up some section designs so i'll try and get round to scanning them to show you guys. Last year we did a speed trial section and it turned out really well with riders getting VERY competitive and some banzi moves being pulled so I think doing that is a good idea I think if you are doing a man-made trial it would be best to have seven sections 3 laps, my reasoning for this is that a man-made section is a lot more intence than natural bacause you don't normally have open areas, also it's lets work for you :D that is a major pluse if you are lacking in helper like I am, and finally I feel it is better to give riders 3 chances at a section because it gives them more chance to improve and generally makes a good day :D . I think you should do 3 routes, a biginner, inter and expert and maybe have one or two sections on each route that was harder than the rest to really push the riders. hope this has helped and has answered some questions :D matt
Brisa
Sounds great, wish I could go. I think you have covered everything apart from on thing, grub... You say its a bit from a train station so i'm just guessing there might not be many amenities close by for food. A little stall set up by you with burgers/crisps/drink would make a bit of money to go to the DJ fund. Also a lot of riders will thanks you for it if your profit margains aren't too much more than what it costs you. I think the mototrials system would be best if the sections weren't too far apart and people were clearly notified of the rules. All the best with it mate, hope it all goes well. The comp will be on at the same time as a Sk8 Fest and summer Fete, which is making my ground rental a lot lower. So there will be burger vans, ice cream vans and the works there, so dont worry about grub (Y)
