Ok, spelling lesson children.. Bought and Brought.

I have notice so many people saying and spelling this word wrong. Here’s an example;

Situation 1

"I went to my friend's party and told him that I had BROUGHT some beer with me."

Situation 2

"I went to my friend's party and told him that I had BOUGHT some beer from the shop."

Bought and Brought, two totally different words with two totally different meanings.

I love this phrase:

There’s no time like the present to present the present.

Now when your French / German teachers tell you that English is hard to learn, you know what they mean.

No, i think that you'd use * friends' *, when you were say talking about a group of your friends owning something, eg.

The house is my friends'. (Meaning belonging to more than one friend)

Meh, english sucks...

It is 'I went to my friend's party' or when it's more than one it's still "friend's".

What really pisses me off is when people put an apostrophe in a plural word, such as "bean's," as they're not trying to say 'bean is' or aren't referring to 'bean' as a person...

JT, that's a brilliant phrase (Y)

Anything or anyone that possesses something takes an apostrophe and an s

e.g. Bob's bike

Unless the word ends in s (which means most plurals in english) then it just takes an apostrophe, no extra s required.

e.g. Chris' bike, My friends' bikes

pointless topic

no one is going to listen , keep using their own language and is turning into one big spelling test no body cares about spelling we come on here to chat not be in an english lesson

Dan

No one ever said it was an english lesson. Not one person is ever going to be 100% at spelling, and no one really cares. Its the matter of the post being corehant and understandable, unlike that one.

dont take the piss lol yes i know i do post some un useful shit but that was only for a laugh my frame

has no one on this forum got a sense of humour anymore?

Dan

We all have a sense of humour, its just ours is good, where as yours is not.
