Mr Motivator
Ok, I have no access to oxyacetylene so I used a butane/propane mix and after about 4 mins I got the steel glowing cherry pink. I used (not shure but its gold) brazing rod but it just kind if snapped off and didnt melt. I used flux and as far as I know it was hot enough. Any ideas? tank_rider
are you sure you have the right brazing rod? If the steel is glowing yet the brazing rod wont melt then it would sugest that you havent? I'm no expert but it seems a reasonable assumption. Sam ← You can't braze with butane/propane mix because it won't get the metal or the filler rod hot enough. Propane/butane mix things like you have are only intended for plumbing - silver soldering copper pipes together and the like. Gotta have the right kit for the job I'm afraid!
