well just got back and had a very fun day with friends in the pub. I also got my guinness hat which is a bonus. I dont claim to be irish at all, i also dont see why i have to be irish to go out and have a laugh on st paddys day. Fingers up to anyone who thinks that cos i couldnt care less.

My god, what a day!!! has been an over 12 hour binge so far!! lol have ended up painted green some how as well lol, ah well! The reason for the hype i think is that the irish know how to party like no one else!! By far the best day/night out ever!!

why do people jump on the bandwagon of paddy's day celebrations???

there are 2 types of people n this world.

people who are irish, and people who want to be irish.

if you can tell me where that was said i'll give you....an arse pube.

john

Why would you want to be irish????????

As for the pub thing I think you can legally have a pint at the age of 16 if you have it with a meal and go in the beer garden/ outside.

Its over thank god, i was doing an essay, played pool on a green table had pizza then pranked people on phone and went to bed

You don't have to go outside, it's just away from the bar area. As long as you are not at the bar...

And yes I do know, I've been assistant managers in pubs for 6 years

Why did this thread turn into a bitch about english people selebrating irish holidays? We're all part of britain and after a couple of Guiness' most people don't care where you come from. The odds are there may not be an irish person within 10miles of a pub celebrating St Paddy's day and yet there will still be a bunch of big green men in there having a good time. Isn't that what counts?

James - missed a fooking hat again this year...next year though, next year...

you don't have to be irish to go out and have a laugh (notice no "on st. patrick's day") why is it such a big deal for you to celebrate it? i don't see why you have to celebrste st. patricks day when you "can go out and have a laugh" on any day. like tomm said, its all about the alcohol. which is available on any day. so why all the fuss about getting drunk 'because its st. patrick's day'?!

Fingers up to anyone who thinks that cos i couldnt care less.

(Y) if you couldn't care less, why all the fuss?

Its about joining in and enjoying the atmosphere of the day. If you go to the right places with the right people then you can have a cracking day just like i did. Of couse you can drink any day of the week and have a good time but St Patricks day is just a fun day and a bit different. It was awesome!

Im not the one causing the fuss  all the whiney people going on about how much of a crime it is to celebrate st paddys day are the ones causing the fuss. Like you! All im doing is replying to you. I only asked a simple question

Amen!

In Bangor due to the large amount of irish students, an irish pub called paddies (which is good all the time) and the general attitude of us students here makes paddies day one of the best nights or days :P" outs ever!
