delusional
Romper Stomper (Harsh film depicting racism in Australia, very controversial flick)←Brilliant film. Surely Russell Crowes finest moment, it's a close run thing with Gladiator, but he's just so good in Romper Stomper. That film makes American History X look just a bit crap. Mine would have to be Battle Royal, a gruesum chinese fighting film :o ←It's actually Japanese, like many excellent films. Also [pedant alert] it's actually called Battle Royale, but you're nearly right. Excellent film though, the characterisation and way you see the relationships between the characters fall apart is brilliant. Personally im big into war films, Saving Private Ryan and that sort of thing... Watched a few episodes of Band of Brothers too, which i really want a copy of (entire collection).Other: Enemy at the gates, The Thin Red Line, We Were Soldiers, Full Metal Jacket, Windtalkers and Black Hawk down....some of the old war films rock too. ←You can't beat a good war film. There are few Vietnam movies that aren't brilliant. Good examples are Platoon and Hamburger Hill. I love Enemy at the gates, the opening scenes are just fantastic. I don't think I can pick a favourite film. But some of my favourites are probably: The Butterfly Effect - dark, intelligent and mind blowing; Romper Stomper - see above; Oldboy - seriously f**ked up Korean cinema; The Princess Bride - just faultless really
andyroo
Oh yeah I just thought - Donny Darko for sheer artisitc cleverness
Tomm
The Usual Suspects (Kevin Spacey is amazing. See also; American Beauty. But American Beauty is a bit rubbish in places. However the main characters are just so well directed) The Godfather (Part I especially) Fight Club Cidade de Deus (City of God) - Someone called it "the Brazilian Goodfellas", which is quite apt. Cool film. LA Confidential - I've not seen Romper Stomper, but surely this has to go down as another fine piece of acting by Russel Crow. And it's got Mr Spacey in it, can't be bad... :)
Brian Bleech
There has been some great films mentioned in this thread already... I love many different films for many different reason, Apocalypse Now is one of the best war films ever, I love some of the shots in that film. Beverly Hills cop 1and 2 will always make me laugh. All the Lord Of The Rings films are great. Romper Stomper has already been mentioned, so has Donnie Darko. Evil Dead Trilogy too. I could go on for hours about films! Also Natural Born Killers is probably in my 'top 5' somewhere, great film. the charactures in it awesome and the celebratisation of mickey and mallory by the media is interesting. but my all time favorite film isn't big, isn't clever but it is so cool and Keanu Reeves best film.. ...Alice In Wonderland!! actually no its Bill + Teds Excellent Adventure! I just love it! Mike Edited March 16, 2005 by leedstrials
